UChicago email and my friend's response

The email that some of us received a few days back and my friend's response. Laugh at your heart's content.

Sort of funny. It was funny untill the Northwestern part, that’s sort of immature and annoying.

He was really excited about getting into Northwestern.

Hahaha clever.

Hahhaha. I got that email, too, and couldn’t figure out where they would have gotten the idea that I had any plans at any point to apply.

It’s funny because the people who read it think he’s an idiot. He should be a little less arrogant. UChicago is a better school than Northwestern anyway.

Also:
“contemplating to apply”
“indicated to apply”
Grammar failures. Sounds like this message was written in another language and run through an online translator.

No, that was purposeful. ■■■■■■■■ :D

That was not purposeful, nice try though.

^ get slapped

i hate it when colleges send emails like that.

Why? Even Cornell does whatever they can to get great applicants. Was getting five hundred pounds of glossies annoying? Sure. But if you understand anything about marketing, you’ll know it’s all normal

And nucpirate: you may have thought your friend’s snarkiness was clever. It’s just inconsequential

Even funnier was a thick package my daughter received yesterday from Columbia with application material and letter asking her to apply. Umm…the application deadline was 1/1/11. Huge waste of $. It was addressed to her PSAT address. (we know that because somehow her middle initial got tagged to her first name on the mailing list for the PSAT, so every time we see ‘xxxxxM’, we know they got her name from the PSAT/NM exam).

Yes, it was somewhat funny until the “Northwestern” part.

I like how he is so proud of getting into a worse school.

^ UChicago bias

They’re not that far apart in prestige at all.

UChicago bias is right.

There is no need to bash one school. This guy may need to apply graduate school or apply for a job at U of Chicago someday…Life can be very interesting…You would never know.

If I’m in admissions ANYWHERE and reading that “clever” response, I’m feeling bad for Northwestern…

^Don’t worry he’s a pretty chill guy. I wouldn’t have expected him to write something like this.

I think you guys are reading way too much into this. It’s a joke.
