So I’m almost done with my fin aid application. I submitted both the FAFSA and the CSS profile back in October. UChicago still required me to upload my parents tax returns and also requested their w2 forms. I uploaded the tax return but since my Dad is self employed he doesn’t have a w2 form. Should I email the school or upload a document explaining the situation?? Any suggestions are appreciated!!!
There is a form on the IDOC portal called W2 waiver (or exemption) or something, for people who don’t file W2s for whatever reason. Fill that out and upload it through IDOC.
Does UChicago use IDOC? Didn’t last year . .
OP does your dad get a 1099? Call UChicago and see if you can fax that in instead. Seem to recall 1099’s not being needed but if it’s 100% of income that might be different.
Also, your dad’s tax form might be sufficient, depending on which one he files. Anyway, call them.
I submitted the CSS instead of the Chicago FA app (you can do either), and so I submitted the other forms that way (IDOC) as well. They are all received in my portal.
@booklady123 I’ve submitted the w2 waiver via idoc already. I was just a bit worried because on the UChi portal it has the w2 as missing.
@JBStillFlying he doesn’t file the 1099 either. I’ll just end up calling them to be sure.
Thanks for the help!
Your best bet is always to call to make sure! Good luck.
