UCHICAGO RD CLASS OF 2019

@bw68apply Where did you hear about this? I myself received this e-mail on the 7th of March, exactly one week ago. I know a few other people who also did not apply for financial aid but also did not receive this e-mail.

@doncarlos1710 A lot of people received the email, it does not mean anything. I received a few emails from multicultral student affairs before EA and was still deffered to RD.

@DonCarlos1710 a few of my friends received it and some applicants in another forum besides CC received it as well. One of them affirms that this email is a likely letter because his counselor told him so. Well, I’m confused and stressed right now…

@pwil7070‌ yes perhaps but the timing seems rather odd, especially the fact that they gave a deadline of 10th March to apply for financial aid, and given that they are need aware to international students they take that into account when deciding admission - not trying to get my hopes up but I’m just a little confused by the e-mail.

@bw68apply well certainly it sounds like a good sign, but how certain would the counsellor be?

@DonCarlos1710 exactly that’s what I thought. I myself am an international applicant as well. Well, if the speculation eventually turn out to be true, congrats. If not, please forgive me for raising your hope.

@DonCarlos1710 I have no idea about the certainty. Good luck!

@bw68apply‌ well I hope it turns out to be true, good luck to you as well!

@DonCarlos1710 Let’s find out in 9 hours.

I have a feeling their servers are gonna crash anyway :smiley:

Only a couple more hours guys and we’ll know. I have a school dance tonight so I don’t know if it’s gonna be a good idea to check or not!!!

Woah, when I left this thread last night there were like 10 less pages here :stuck_out_tongue:
Another international EA Deferred here asking for aid so probably not getting in. Also I just found out I forgot to send in my ACT score to UChicago and only sent in my SAT which has my horrendous 640 in CR :frowning:

@sallywoot Hello!! I have a similar situation. My CR score was also low. However, I sent my ACT score (35). I’m also asking for aid and being an international I’m hoping nothing more than a waitlist. :((

@bw68apply @DonCarlos1710, now is not the time to speculate. The emails mean nothing, the reason behind the fact that some people recieved it and some didn’t can be due to various reasons that range from sex, nationality, income, race, and so on. I hope you get in, but if you do, it’s probably not because you recieved a FA reminder. I also doubt the validity of your counselor’s statement. How can she be 100% sure that a FA reminder email is basically a likely letter? Given the fact that UChicago ALREADY sends likely letters, I recommend you to stop being compulsive. Seriously guys, this argument is nonsense. UChicago is notorious for sending material to underqualified people to lower its admit rate. Speulation will hurt you mentally at this point. Raising hopes may also, potentially. Besides that, the effort would be futile. Just let your work stand on its own with your schools and soon you will be awash with even more admits than you already have racked up. I wish you good luck.

@minastirith‌ grr, my SAT scores were sth like this 600, 610, 620…International as well, does that mean lower chacne of being accepted at UC?

what countries are you guys from?

@minastirith‌ Heyyy, I’m a Pakistani too :smiley:
Which school?

You can’t say that you have lower chance. My cousin went to Harvard with a SAT score of 1850. Anything can happen.
One of my seniors got rejected from all ivies and UChicago with a SAT score of 2400. There are many other things that determine your decision other than a SAT/ACt score. So, cheer up!! @ammo96‌

@ammo96, I can’t tell ifyour chances are lower. But I can tell you that Uchicago and other US colleges assess you in your context. So as an international whose first language isn’t English (this doesn’t apply to the UK, commonwealth countries, etc.) it’s unfair of them to expect 700+ in CR. Internationals usually stand out with other qualities. Good luck !

I have a really low CR score, the only thing that badly lags behind in my application. But my gpa is 4/4 and sat 2 is 1590/1600 hate the CR >.<
