UChicago Waitlist Thread

Does volunteering to take a gap year make it easier to get off the wait list? I would assume so… but how much easier, now there’s the rub.

BairnOwl reporting for wait list duty. I wonder what these duties entail.

Waitlisted.
How many people on the waitlist actually get in though?

timu1996 reporting for wait list duty! :stuck_out_tongue:

I am really confused about the voluntary gap year. So, if we choose the voluntary gap year option, will we be notified in May basically that if they decide they want us, we have to take a gap year and then we are guaranteed admission?

deep breath; long tenor note: waaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIITLIIIISTEEEEEEEEEeeeed!

I have no hope of gettin’ in from the waitlist. Yay! =((

I was relieved of not being denied though.

Zzwicker reporting for waitlist duty - only positive spin is I did not get outright rejection. :frowning:

Another waitlistee over here

noooo @enoughnerve you ruined it :(

So what is with the “voluntary gap year”?

Basically…they consider you for next year…not this one…
So their calculations on whether or not to admit you depends on next year’s figures and not this one.

The game is over. It’s time to forget UChicago and move to another one.

Hehehe sorry! A voluntary gap year I think would be taking this year off but being guaranteed a spot in the class of 2019 if they decide to let you off the wait list

Hmmm…I doubt the spot would be guaranteed…

It is guaranteed but how many of you guys are willing to wait a year?

That is totally not worth it. Time is money.

I was also wait-listed which is great. With a 3.6 and 27 ACT I thought I’d be tossed right into the rejected pile.
You guys should proud, only 10% get wait-listed based on last years stats. You’re in the top 18% of applicants.
It gives me hope for RD and to think I was worried about Oberlin and Michigan. I would be happy with either. And don’t have too much hope, only 5% get accepted off the wait-list.

@Sararose16

Where did you get those statistics?

Got engineering LL for UCLA
UChicago waii u do this to me
