uci appeal 2010

ok so who is going to appeal their uci rejection? who has done it so far or is working on it? what was the premise of your appeal?

ohh and your stats… mine 3.2 uc gpa 23 act 610 and 580 sat II. lots of extra currics. medical hardship my soph and junior year which prevented me from excelling in academics. wrote a pretty good letter and proved my case with documentation. got a good letter of rec from an actual prof. at uci, school of social science(my intended dept) and i am about to send it in these next couple of days

Oh, I already sent in mine. I heard the earlier, the better.

yea thts prolly true. what were your stats and basis of appeal???

Bballref you said

ok so we have a family friend who is admitt counselor at irvine and she told us in essence the waitlist is now the unofficial version of the appeals process so basically anybody who thinks they should appeal for reconsideration will 99.99999% will be (re)rejected. theyre virtually going to ignore the appeals which kind of sucks for the not so good academic student with a good background and citizen. hope this helped alot of you guys who trying to appeal your valuable case. sorry about the bad news

However, you are writing an appeal yourself. Does this mean that you are trying to deter people away from writing an appeal so that there will be less competition. If so then that is just not right and negates any reason for why you should be accepted.

My friend got waitlisted at UCI and she is still going to appeal. Sawanni60, so the people who are waitlised will come into consideration first?

WOW bballplyrref… I recognize what you wrote from the other thread. Split personality much? XD

sawanni60 I had a hunch Bballref was doing this as well. His “admit counselor’s” stats that he was apparently given were already proven wrong by another CCer so it seems most likely this person was only trying to kill the hopes of others to help his/her own goal. I’m sorry if it’s not true but this case seems very likely.

no youre right i did write that stuff on the other thread because at that point i was leaning towards not writing an appeal myself(obviously because i got denied), but after speaking with one of the admissions officers(not our fam friend, i havent had a chance to contact her) they said that the only legitimate premise of an appeal being review is through some sort of medical/family/personal hardship and how they need to see “CONCRETE PROOF” of your academic potential. so basically those are saying that they forgot to add a really important extra curric or show an improvement on a grade during senior year, they arent buying it. so, that is why i decided to appeal because uci was obviously my first choice and when i initally got denied i thought forget it. im done with them. but more recently i reconsidered my thoughts about appealing the decision after finding out about my qualifications to do so… and no i was not trying to deter anybody from writing their own appeals… i was just providing useful info for people who were interested.

btw what i said about the fam friend informing me about the waitlist/appeal procedure is correct and from a credible source. so its there for you take it. or not. your choice

Quote from bballplyrref - “haha… ya man im trying as hard as i possibly can… im waiting patiently jus like you guys too… this college admissions stuff is ridiculous.”

So, it seems that are appealing now? After you gave everyone the impression that you too were on the waiting list?

Perhaps you’re just a cynical boy trying to crush the hopes of those waitlisted or rejected to UCI. Or, you’re just a boy who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

I am not bothered by the fact that you’re making things up. I am bothered by the fact that you destroyed the hopes of everyone who weren’t accepted to UCI.

didnt i just say that?? look at the post above yours… c’mon now!

@bball
what were you saying earlier about there being no more spots for appealers yet now youre appealing. kinda sketchy. i have a 4.06 uc gpa 2020 on sat. im just going to try to appeal with my 4.5 gpa this recent year and show improvement. and i am gona have a proffesor write a letter of recomendation for me. its my brothers favorite prof. and he has t.a.'d for him twice. what do you guys think of my chanceS? thanks. :)

ucihopeful:
goodluck with that. how did they deny you in the first place? geez amazing stats!!! did you have ecs? why dont you jus have the prof work his magic and get you in through the back door?

This is seriously pathetic -.-. I completely understand how the other posters feel about your sudden interest in now appealing when you originally discouraged others -.- and then a rage of posts continues -.-. What matters in the end is if you guys appeal and get in or not -.- not about the stupid you said this crap -.-.

Honestly, why would u guys trust other posters from stopping you to appeal in the first place <.<

wow. :frowning: who are we yelling at here? who is this bballplyrreff guy?

honestly. say what you will. appeal if you want to appeal. im not holding a gun to anyones head sayn dont do! i was simply stating some info given to me and it happened to be neg. and now everyone puts the blame on me. i am merely the messenger. i am not to blame!

bball. no one is blaming you. it just looked really bad when you said those things about not appealing. i understand where you are coming from but its just tht people got the wrong impression about what you were saying

“honestly… uci is not that great and is very much overated. it blew up these past couple of years for no reason: prof: ok, housingk, social life: less than ok, overall schooling: average… i say either sjsu or csun have excellent business schools. you’d be doing yourself a favor by choosing either one.”

uhh bballplyrref y are you appealing to UCI if you dont think it’s that great anyways, It’s not an easy school to get into? Curious o.o

i waas tslkin about business school. read the whole thing!

i sent in my appeal today. fingers are crossed  now we play the waiting game. ughhhhhh. anyone else send their appeals yet?
