UCI appeal notification

Got into uc irvine through an appeal!!!

Do you mind my asking what you said in your appeal?

I talked about pretty much my parents getting a divorce during my high school experience and how it affected me trying to study and focus during class.

GPA: 3.73
SAT: 1600
ACT: 24
EC: went to belize for 2 weeks doing dental work and was a dental assistant for my dad, went to arizona for 10 days helping the navajo, started my own mtb club that races in NORCAL league, helped at senior center, was in KEY club and NHS club.
Sent in LEtter of REc
Took 4 AP’s: SPANISH 4, CALCULUS AB, CHEMISTRY, HUMAN GEO
my major is undeclared!

I got into UCI through an appeal and talked about how my moving really hurt my grades. it seems like they r accepting a lot of people of the appeal! Congrats to everyone!

When are you guys getting your notifications? I still haven’t gotten anything…

check your portal!! also… i heard that they under enrolled alot of people which means that they rejected alot of people and still have open spaces! For my school alot of overqualified people got rejected or waitlisted, and the people that got into uci went somewhere else! pretty much only 4people including me are going there!! goodluck and never give up!

WOOOO FINALLY! I got into UCI through Appeals!! this is freaking awesome! I just checked today at around 5:30 pm and saw that it was changed!! Don’t worry people you’ll for sure get them soon. I doubt they’re going to reject anyone from appeals.

Stats: UC GPA: 3.88
ACT: 28 and applied for Bio Major (SATII 720 Bio)
Appeal: talked about grandmother and how her failing health caused me to focus more on taking care of her than school.
ECs: decent but nothing extraordinary. Had an internship at testing facility and had pretty okay stats regarding leadership and what not.
Took 4 APs (with 3 more this year): AP Language and Comp, AP Biology, APUSH, AP Environmental Science. (This year: AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, and AP Literature and Comp)
Sent in two letters of rec from both my Bio teacher and my other biotechnology teacher.

okay i’m starting to freak out cuz my portal still hasn’t changed.
CONGRATS ON THOSE WHO GOT IN THOUGH!

Hell yes, i got in! Goodbye merced, hello irvine!

should i just give up on hoping to get my appeal granted? :frowning:

by the observation of how many people are winning their appeals, i doubt that a lot more people will be granted. UC’s say that less than 1% of the people who appeal actually get in, but SOOOO many people have been accepted!

i feel like if “my decision is still pending” up until now, then there’s not much hope left considering that they’ve been already sending out appeal grants for the past week or so.

i’m really praying that its not another one of those waives where the people who didn’t get in, get their notifications last. i kind of have a feeling that it’s going to end up that way… i just want to find out already regardless or not if i got in.

i feel like i have so much hope for getting my appeal granted that im not even thinking about ucr right now… which is a really bad thing i know :(

PLUS, i already heard back from my appeal from ucsb, and i got rejected once again… i sent in the same exact letter, recommendations, etc etc to both uc irvine and ucsb, so i feel like my chances at this rate are pretty low D:

got in, email sent to me at 3am
sent in appeal 1st week of april

Congratulations to everyone who got in! I didn’t hear back yet…nervous since I started this thread but most of the people who replied got in :(

my appeal was granted too! aah, best feeling ever! (:

I still think there’s hope for the people that are waiting because I seriously didn’t think i had a chance at being admitted.

GPA: 3.85 (weighted)
SAT: 1510
with with Yearbook Editor, Track & Field, Student Government for 4 years, with a few extracurriculars.

and I was admitted into biological sciences.

there’s still hope for everyone!

I actually expect EVERYONE is going to get in off appeals (unless someone had a truly terrible gpa and whatnot) (sorry, let me rephase that, all freshman will) because UCI is seriously under enrolled this year, they made it very hard to get in so they wouldn’t have too many people register and, err, it sort of backfired. Even with letting everyone in off the waitlist they still are under for a -lot- of spots, so, ya, I’m pretty sure you’re all good :)

(Now to see how transfers will be! Aaaahhh!)

i’m in!!! yes!! I’m very shocked, my appeal was nothing special. It seems like many are getting in off of appeals. I think this is because they were very harsh during the regular admissions process and selected high quality students. However a lot of those high quality students end up going elsewhere so they have a lot of leftover spots.

Good luck to everyone else!!

It said that the appeal deadline was April 15, but on Ms. Sun’s webiste [Ms. Sun’s UC Admissions Blog](http://askmssun.livejournal.com/), she mentioned that the deadline was yesterday, May 16.
I was going to appeal to Irvine, I had my letter and transcript ready but I talked to my counseler and he even called up UCI asking about my admissions (I felt they didnt get the right test scores), but they said they say everything and whatnot. Even though it’s past the deadline, it seems as if UCI needs more students. Would it be pointless to try at this point to appeal?

seriously, i hate that they’re not coming out all at once. such a tease ):
i’m losing hope cuz so many people already got theirs as;dkljfalsj

@kyu: i’m pretty sure the uci website clearly stated that they won’t accept appeals any later than april 15th but you could always call and ask.

The deadline was May 15 for transfers  I’d say it’s worth calling the admissions department though and asking if they’re willing to accept a late appeal, they’re obviously super under enrolled, so I think you have a really good chance.
