I applied to UCI and was told I was a match, but unfortunately, I wasn't accepted.

I got a 2160 SAT - M-710/CR-710/W-740 and 710 on both the Physics and Math II SATIIs. 3.45 UW GPA, 3.70 UC GPA. Four-year golf varsity letterman.

I think I may have been rejected because of my chosen major, which was Environmental Engineering, and my hunch is that it was impacted. I regret this because I get a feeling that if I had gone in as undeclared, like some people I know who got in (with around 3.5 UC GPA and 1600 SATs, to boot), I would have stood a better chance.

If I appeal, what grounds do I have to appeal on? And what sort of documentation should I provide?

i would say appeal it. I got rejected from UCI too, and i'm thinking of appealing too, but not 100% sure if it will be worth the effort. Did get into other UC's?

hmmm... i would hate to go to UCR, it just seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Anyways, if i were you i would go to SB. Have you gotten accepted to anything beside UC's? Im going to a CC and transferring.

Appealing is very difficult. You need to make a solid case about why you are appealing and deserve to get in. Definitely look into getting more letters of recommendation, especially from counselors. The success rate is not that great for people appealing, just FYI.

I want to appeal too!!! I ask my tutorin teacher, he told me appeals got granted is less than 8%. And my senior GPA dropped so much... >< god bless me.....i am gonna appeal anyway!! or i hav to go to ucsc.....==
