***UCI APPLICANTS C/O 2023***

Anyone receive a decision today? Asking for a friend!!

@musiciangoaler I think it makes sense logically that less applicants means less competition so it would probably be easier to get in…but there’s always other factors…I’ve been noticing that the acceptance rates for some of the UCs have been dropping every year so I think that makes it more difficult as the years progress…however, I think the majority of people in the graduating class of 2019 are born in 2001…but there are some 2000 babies but not very much compared to last year…and as the years progress, more information is gathered to benefit next senior class when they start applying and more/better opportunities can arise too… and based on trends it seems to get harder every year…teachers I’ve had said they think if they were to be a student in our year, they wouldn’t have gotten in …but again, college admissions are sometimes a mystery and vague on their actual criteria that can vary from year to year

got into ucla for chemical engineering but still waiting to hear back from irvine… great

@collegeboundf19 I don’t think any acceptances came out today

Has anyone heard back from Computer game science?

I applied for Computer Game Science, but I haven’t heard back. Hoping for an acceptance, but my chances are looking slimmer as time passes on…

I’m a poli sci major & haven’t heard back yet and I’m getting kind of nervous, although UCI isn’t one of my top choices. I was accepted to UCSB and UCSD and waitlisted at UCLA so it seems kind of sketchy that UCI would outright reject me? Hopefully, the waves of acceptances aren’t over yet.

Last year’s applicants at UCI got a double whammy because of not only the large influx of Golden Dragon kids, but also the large amount of applicants who were let in the year before because UCI mismanaged the number of people who got admitted and SIR’ed. I think in 2017 they ultimately allowed 700 more than they thought would come in. So in 2018 a ton of applicants paid the price by being put on waitlist. You’ll notice that the admit rate from 2017 to 2018 went down by about 6%.

Yes, this year’s class will still have Golden Dragon kids, but not as many as last year.

@soapdispenser I also haven’t heard back and am a poli sci Major. I got accepted into UCSB so I’m hoping I can get into UCI.

@kywizzles my son also applied computer game science. Hasn’t heard yet. Haven’t heard of a computer game science student getting acceptance yet

haven’t heard anything about international studies

has anyone heard back form biological science or educational sciences?

do people really get into UCI FIRST, then their major? My friend was accepted into Film studies and his GPA is a 3.5, he has gotten a D in a class, and his SAT is 1200. He has taken no AP classes and barely has any extracurriculars.

I guess I’m just a bit jealous, but I just don’t believe he is as qualified as most students who haven’t heard back.

Also, does anyone know if the Acceptance/Waitlist/rejection wave is true?

Yes, it’s true. Monday will be the last day for possible acceptance. After Monday, the best result will be waitlist. This is based on previous year’s experience.

I’ve seen previous posts that some people already got rejected though

@Anxiouswaiter This person is skeptical and just became a new member. Show us the link with acceptance letter and official GPA. Your frosh and Senior year won’t count, So your D and F won’t be counted. Look at your core courses. LOL I bet we will not see a link or proof from this person. LOL. Notice she or he said friend, but the friend never posted their stats. Good one! Show link of acceptance with the qualified UCI student number or with major showing???

I’ve been following this thread all along. Only one person said that you got an email and found out they were rejected on Friday when the decisions started rolling out. I found that interesting because rejections are supposed to come out last

@4everpraying so the rejection might be false?

@UCacceptmeplease not sure… but seems like a special situation at best
