I’ve been accepted as a transfer student to UCI’s business admin program and UCB’s economics program. I want to do marketing, but would be okay with finance. While UCB has obvious prestige and roots in silicon valley, as well as proximity to the big 4 accounting firms, I also heard that it’s economics program is extremely hard and the average gpa is pretty low, and I plan on going to grad school. I was accepted to UCB off the waitlist and they said I have to give my decision in a week but I’m wondering which one is the best choice for me and if anyone has been in the same boat/ how they decided?
Gosh that’s a hard decision. Does UCI have a marketing concentration? Can you be in their honors program?
@philbegas You have to select an emphasis (marketing, accounting, etc.) but either way you graduate with a business administration degree. At UCB you can take marketing classes and such in Haas but you graduate with an economics degree
I wish more people would respond because I don’t know
UC Berkeley is known for being a bit intimidating. It’s huge, pretty impersonal if you’re in one of the bigger programs. It’s competitive for sure. Do you mind that?
You’re obviously not Berkeley material if you’re too scared to compete with other students. Yes Cal has grade deflation but graduate schools know that. UC Berkeley is vastly superior to UC Irvine and it would be a shame if you wasted the chance they gave you.
