UCI Campuswide Honors Program

I being interested in physical sciences and tired of the concept and practice of "general education" and "creative arts" in high school, I avoided writing courses as best as possible during my first year.

lolol oh man this describes me...

quick question, if you have a few ap tests behind you and you're going to be an engineering major do you still have to do GE, like english, history, etc.?

also, i skimmed through the link mamoose posted and it seems like if you go honors then you have to follow a preset list of classes and can't decide on your own...is that how it is or am i mistaken? heh

Based on what other posters have said, it sounds like the CHP may only actually require that you take one of the three honors core sequences.

I think engineering majors are required to complete GE courses, but your AP credits may get you out of some of them. What you need to do is compare the credits you'll get:
<a href="http://www.editor.uci.edu/08-09/intro/intro.11a.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.editor.uci.edu/08-09/intro/intro.11a.pdf</a>
with the GE requirements:
2008-09 UCI Catalogue: Information for Admitted Students

I got CHP

gpa: 3.79 out of 4.00
act: 30
math II: 740
biology E: 760
ap: three taken already and five more in may

How many Units is each class in the CHP Hummanities core? I’m trying to figure out why it covers so much of the GE requirement (are they higher unit courses >3,4,5 or is it simply because it is honors and thus more rigorous)
personally I don’t think I’ll mind stomaching a difficult, boring sequence for 1 year if it means I’ll have more time in the following years to focus on/explore my major - better opportunity to begin quality research.
current CHPers, please correct me if I’m off on any of this. Thanks!

Each class in the Humanities Core is 8 units.

wow, so I would only have the hum core, and 2 or 3 other classes?
