UCI Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@jjang25 that brought some hope to me, lol thank you

Business econ still havent heard back )-:

Is anyone for sure attending UCI for Business Administration? I was accepted but not sure if i’m going here yet

me too I’m bus Econ and still pending

@collegewowzerz @delaxcruz If it makes you guys feel any better, I feel as if there are a lot of business econ students who are still pending so they could just be taking awhile to decide.

if you dont mind sharing @collegewowzerz what were your stats??

Commuter science major Is here and i havent gotten my decision yet while most of my friends got in already

what is taking UCI so long to post financial aid. They said early may for a while on their site and now it says mid-may. I want to SIR to Berkeley if they offer me very little at UCI, and I need to look for housing STAT if I go up there. Ugh!!

Any nursing acceptances out there?

I don’t think they’re going to release any decisions today, probably gotta wait till Monday

@neilsola I for sure will attend UCI for business administration because I live close to the campus, but my status is still pending…

since the last wave was all waitlists does that mean there will be no more acceptances?

Rejected just now. OOS mechanical engineering, 3.96 GPA

@Bless95 damn rejected with that GPA? Did you have all pre-reqs?

It’s probably over for those of us (non-tags) that haven’t heard back yet. UCI tends to hold the waitlists for later and the rejections at the very end.

Edit: Yup, just rejected

Major: CS
gpa: 3.97

Rejected
Major: chem
gpa: 3.91
igetc: complete
ec: not much
essays: average

accepted: ucb, ucla
pending: ucsd

don’t know why i got rejected from irvine lol o well

Rejected
Electrical Engineering
3.89
igetc: not complete
EC: Plenty
Accepted: Davis, SB, LA, SC
hmm interesting

@jeetusSwo Yeah, pretty bummed.

I would think so though, seeing as how I’m about to receive my associates degree next week. Also, I did get accepted for riverside. Outlook on SD isn’t very good anymore.

Was also a nuclear reactor operator veteran, if that holds any weight in STEM. Think the whole OOS ordeal screwed me

Rejected! as expected.
Major: bio
GPA: 3.96 (1 B in elective course)
IGETC: done

Accepted: UCSB
Pending: UCSD
Rejected: UCB UCLA UCI

I am almost 100% sure I got rejected from all the schools due to major prep requirement. The math/physics classes I took at CC did not articulate with the ones for UCB/UCLA/UCI. They’re only valid for UCSB and UCSD (based on assist.org)… but I applied anyways for fun

UCI-4/26-Rejected

College transferring from: Pepperdine (US News ranked 46 in 2019)
Entering as: junior
Major: Business Administration
GPA: 3.71
Units completed: 62 units after Spring semester (GPA 3.765 after Spring)
Pre-reqs: missing the second UC’s English (I didn’t take it because I thought it doesn’t matter that much and I could catch it up later. In addition, I spent my freshman year’s summer doing internship instead of taking this course at a community college.)
Essay: 9/10
Other schools applied to: USC, UCB Haas, UCLA, UCSD, Emory
Waiting for: USC and UCSD now. USC I have a high chance since most classes can transfer.

Comments and thoughts:

  1. I got “A” in all the business classes that I have taken in Pepperdine: Financial Accounting, Business Calculus, Business Statistics, and Organizational Behavior. I thought this would be impressive. Most GEs I got an “A” or an “A-”. But I got two “B” in two Pepperdine only classes and that’s why my GPA is not a 3.8 or higher.

  2. I was quite shocked that I got rejected. It’s definitely because of missing prereqs. Otherwise, who gives UCI the courage to reject me from Pepperdine having a 3.71? Anyways, I am not considering UCI even I get in because Pepperdine is just better in terms of academics, resources, and environment.

  3. I hope UCSD can accept me despite the fact of missing prereqs. I have heard that they are more lenient.

  4. If I were to do this application process again, I would just apply to more private schools and not apply to UCs at all.

  5. If you want to transfer to a UC, applying from a community college is way easier than applying from a 4-year institution because UCs care about transferable classes and prereqs a lot.
