hi everyone!! (i know i’m a bit tardy to the party, but whatever)
major: criminology, law and society
tag: no (uc davis)
gpa: 3.82
igetc: completed by spring 2019
also applied to: uc davis, uc santa cruz, uc san diego
UCI is my top school, so i’ve been super anxious. good luck to everyone!! i hope the wait goes by quickly.
The criminology program sits at 1 in the country and Irvine is the only UC to have it. When I went for a tour I was also told 1st. But other ppl say it ranks 3rd in the country. Whichever number from 1 through 5 is still a good rank.
i know it sounds super weird! i wasn’t able to TAG to irvine because of when i took my college level math course. i didn’t qualify because i didn’t take stats until fall of my second year. otherwise, i totally would have TAG’d
@mildlypanicked that makes sense. I believe that’s why you have tagged to UC Davis (probably). Because UCI requires students to complete the UC-Math requirement by summer 2018 while UC Davis requires it to be completed by fall 2018.
I was wondering if there were any regular econ applicants that have received decision yet. Also as a regular non tap when do we usually get admission decision?
Would taking a W affect a TAG in any way? I was afraid I wouldn’t do well in Calc 2 last semester after my midterm, but I talked with my CC Counselor and a UCI Counselor and said if I withdrew and redid the course before the end of the Spring 2019 semester I would still be eligible for TAG. I’m still a worried boy though since I haven’t heard back yet
Do you think a W would matter if it wasn’t a major requirement? I didn’t retake a bio class I had a W in but it isn’t required for public health policy
@22OnTheMap Thanks! yeah I meant to retake later. It was a case of having the worst semester of my life haha so I’m hoping i’ll make it up later since I need it for medical school
I have two W’s and two C’s (Calc 1 and Calc 2). I called admissions back in November before applying and he basically said that math is considered major prerequisite which requires getting a “B”. If I get rejected I know why.
