UCI Nursing Program Questions Regarding my Chances and Advice on How to Get In

Advice: How much extracurricular activities do I need to do? What specifically will make me stand out? What do most nursing schools usually like to see in the application?

I am currently a first year in a community college, Orange Coast College, with a 3.52 gpa based on my fall semester grades, but it may lower to around 3.2 if my current grades do not change. I have done volunteering events offered by the Circle K club (key club) such as help cleaning events, assist in preparing events, and chairing an event for a science event. I am also thinking of joining a summer health program if I get accepted this summer as well.

Also, do I need to finish all of my prerequisites mentioned through assist.org, if not, what fraction of the prerequisites do I need to complete to be considered eligible for the program?

Here are the 2017 Transfer stats for UCI Nursing:

Admission into the UC Irvine School of Nursing is competitive and highly selective. The number of students in the major is small because of the limited availability of clinical placements.

Due to the increasing number of applicants and selective nature of the program, it is strongly recommended that you research other nursing programs as well.

The number of admitted students every year can vary. It is based on the current number of seats available in the program and admission patterns from previous years.

Fall 2018 transfer applicants: 98

Average cumulative GPA: 3.79
