“I understand that ELC students are guaranteed admission into UCI. A letter was also sent to me confirming my guaranteed admission to I. However, one exception to the guaranteed admission was in selecting any kind of Engineering as a major. Since the letter was sent 2-3 months before application time, I did not remember the engineering exclusion rule, and thus selected engineering as a major. My stats are not high so I understand that it will negatively impact my admission into UCI without the ELC status. UCI is my top choice. I really want to go to UCI more than any other UCs. This mistake of mine have been making me extremely worried and fustrated! I tried to change major, but I understand that it is too late. My counselor tells me to write to admissions, not an appeal, stating my problem, but I am unsure whether I should or not. Can you guys please offer some advices as to what I can do?”
