<p>Hi guys, well I got a uci message saying that they need me to validate my citizenship for financial aid. i applied for undergrad fall of 2010, does that mean they accepted me?! PLEASEEE give me some comments!!!! </p>

<p>I think it means they need you to validate your citizenship for financial aid. Financial aid offices often don’t necessarily know what the admissions people are doing at any given time. So it may not mean anything about whether you are accepted. It’s probably not bad news, however. At worst it is neutral news.</p>

<p>Validate your citizenship? Is that a normal question that gets asked? Or, is that only asked to naturalized citizens?</p>
<p>I realize that a student has to be a citizen or green card resident to get fed aid, but do students usually have to provide more than their SSN and/or place of birth? Or is this a random check thing?</p>
<p>^^California has a lot of internationals who live in the state on visas, and whose kids attend California HS for three years. Since proof of citizenship is not necessary for admissions (if graduating from a Calif HS that was attended for 3+ years), validating citizenship is required for those not born in the US prior to approving finaid.</p>
