I am wondering about how this school is socially. Is it a sociable school? Are people snobby and uptight? Are the people there socially weird and are very hard to talk to, or “boring”. are the dorms sociable? If so, what rooms are the most social ones. Are there parties to the school. I know i should be focusin on the academics, which i am, but i definitely want a social life. ALso, it is between this school, Long Beach, Fullerton, and Pomona. Which school has the most social life and has the best “college” feel, even though I know they’re all commuters. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks g.
CSULB is probably more towards what you’re looking for, at least out of the schools you mentioned. But hey… we’re not all that boring.
Lmao. You probably aren’t. What would you say is your experience with UCI? Did you enjoy it?
I was extremely worried as well that UCI wasn’t going to be social and I even debated on going to a different school (not as academically strong, but a lot more social) when I was trying to pick a school. I’m a first year and I have to say it’s a lot more social than I expected. My experience might be different because I’m in a sorority, but if you’re interested in joining a fraternity/sorority I would highly recommend it because you will meet a ton of people and there’s a ton of Greek life events to go to. Even if you’re not in Greek life, most fraternity parties are open to everyone. There’s a lot of clubs at UCI as well that you can join and you’ll meet a ton of people. I also live in the dorms right now and everyone in my hall is super nice and we’re all extremely close with each other. Personally, I would recommend living in Mesa Court over Middle Earth if you want a more social experience.
UCI was flat out one of the most snobbish clickiest schools I’d ever been to. I transferred straight out to Pomona. Best damn decision I’ve ever made. Adderall central. If you want to join a frat/sorority that’s your call. Basically paying for friends rather than finding good people to just hangout with. I know people that pulled loans to join those things lol. Go to LB or Pomona.
@eb9905 how’s your time in Pomona? You enjoying it? Are you dorming there? Don’t want to seem shallow right now , but are the people honestly ‘geeky’
I love Pomona. Not geeky, but there is a geeky vibe if that’s what you’re looking for. The environment is more team oriented, students work together. So you gain a lot of new friends and study partners. It’s definitely an active and social campus. That’s actually incorporated into the schedule, it’s called U-hour. On Tuesday and Thursday’s from 12-1 there are no classes so all students can participate in club events and other events on campus. I live off campus, highly recommended simply because living on any campus is boring. You’re always at school and it’s a miserable feeling. CPP is amazing. I’d check it out if I were you. Such an awesome campus.
I was worries about the same thing before coming here. But I can say that I was worried for nothing. UCI has a reputation of being unsociable and “boring”. While it isn’t your typical football, party school, I wouldn’t call it boring. The dorms are pretty sociable, the common rooms tend to be full of people every night until 4am! People definitely go out and party, and you wont have too hard a time finding them, I definitely wouldn’t worry about that. The campus is really chill and people are friendly and nice! The overall vide in my best way of describing it would be to imagine a typical college, but then put that college around a part and mellow it out a bit and you’ll have UCI.
@thegoat123 UCI has a social scene, about 10% of students are in a fraternity/sorority, many of which are housed on campus - most of the rest have houses in Newport Beach. However, you do not sound like an academic match for the school as it is generally expected students place academics first. I think that if you were accepted you should consider a different school that focuses less on academics.
