Hi Guys, I was doing some research based off past years and I saw that most people that were getting the supplemental questionnaires were people with 2000+ sat but 3.0-3.4 gpa, or vice versa(3.9-4.0 gpa, but 1600-1800 sat) I got a 2100 on SAT and I have around a 3.7-3.8 gpa. I’m applying for computer science and I haven’t received a supplemental questionnaire yet. Has anyone gotten one yet, and if you have can u comment with what major your applying under and what are your basic stats(sat/act and gpa)
Hmm … I was asked to clarify gaps in my previous education and provide unofficial transcripts, not sure if that’s the supplemental.
yeah that is, what day did u get yours?
The students I’m helping got their supplementals in January.
To get a supplemental, you needed to give UCI a rationale for why your scores were lower than they should have been, like a chronic illness or having to work to support your family, or tell them about an extraordinary talent that made the campus interested despite your borderline grades.
In other words, you would not get a supplemental just because your grades are borderline - Irvine needs to believe that there’s more to your story that they did not understand fully from your application.
@Autumnal do you think that with my stats, i should have gotten a borderline supplemental for uci. 3.7-3.8 weighted uc gpa, 2070 sat score, 800 sat 2 math, 5 weighted classes junior year?
@po09oow12 Your grades and scores don’t really matter for supplements (outside of being reasonably good). You don’t get them because of your GPA or SAT.
You get them if you mention an extreme hardship or talent on your application (personal statement/extra curriculars/additional comments) that UCI wants to know more about.
So, if you did have a hardship or extraordinary talent, then yes, I do think you would have qualified for a supplement. But if you didn’t mention one of those, or if you already explained your situation well enough on your original application, it makes sense that you did not receive a supplement.
Does that make sense?
I divulged an addiction that was truly the reason school went all to hell. Hopefully they will see the contrast of then versus now. Got mine in January btw.
