Hello hello…i was wondering what the requirements for computer science…to transfer to UCI are. It says 1 year of computer science classes. So would a semester of C++ and a semester of Java fulfill the requirement? If you have experience of this TAG it would be even better.
As I look at the Computer Science major from this page: http://www.admissions.uci.edu/applicants/transfer_prep/prep_ics.html
It looks like you’d be fine with C++/Java classes you’ve taken, but this then raises the question of do they mean 3 classes since UCI is on the quarter system? This would make sense considering the general sequence that can be found at a lot of CCs of Intro Programming > Object Oriented Programming > Data Structures/Algorithms, along with an Assembly class.
@onabananaboat i have tried contacting UCI but they havent been helpful…im really confused right now
@Hafmanhafmazin Could you tell me the names of the courses you have taken? If they don’t follow the titles of Intro Prog./OOP/DS&A then tell a little bit about the course descriptions.
Its a bit weird that they couldn’t clear this up for you, though. You already have two classes under your belt so you should take your other CompSci classes offered for Fall/Spring next school year.
@onabananaboat i took cs1 which is programming in c++ in the fall and going to take cs3 which is intro to programming in java. I probably wont take anymore classes if this fulfills the requirement.
@Hafmanhafmazin Interesting… and yeah I understand. I hope things get cleared up for you sooner than later, good luck with CS3.
