Well my major is electrical engineering. I got accepted to the above schools with that major except UCI I got accepted as undeclared. I applied to cal poly pomona too but they haven't responded yet so I can't really say they're an option.
1. What school is best for EE?
2. My top are CSULB and UCI however one accepted me as my major(LB) and the other no(I) so where should I go?
3. In general is a UC better than a CSU?
4. If Pomona did accept me should I go straight over there and discard everything else?
5. Lastly the schools I got accepted to are fun, full of school spirit and parties, or are they boring?

Thank you so much!

Talk to Irvine about chances of getting into the electrical engineering program when admitted as undeclared. If after talking to them, you’re comfortable with your chances and can afford it, I would choose UCI. UCR is a good option too if there isn’t a guarantee you’d get into EE at Irvine and that’s what you want to do.

All your choices will provide a good education and job prospects. UC education is typically more theoretical while CSU education is typically more practical. CSUs will be cheaper, so if you have to take out big loans to go to UCI or UCR, a CSU is likely a better return for your investment. Biggest hassle with CSUs are you have to be more patient and flexible for class enrollment…it’s easier to get classes at a UC.

Your choices all have a large commuter student population so that limits the spirit aspect.
Visit the campuses and choose the one you like best.

Take CSULA off the list–it’s heavily commuter and if cost is an issue the other two Cal States are better options.

Have you visited any or all of these? Sounds like you should, to get a sense of which ones are fun or boring to you. Visit the EE departments, talk to students and professors, see where students are being hired.

I thought Pomona didn’t offer engineering except as a 3-2 program. Are you on the waitlist?

^I agree: the other CSU’s are much better than CSULA.

UC’s aren’t so impacted, so your ability to get into the classes you need for your major and for graduation isn’t as affected as at CSU’s.

My top choices, based on major, would indeed be CPP, UCR, and CSULB. Visit UCR and CSULB to see if you have a preference and let us keep our fingers crossed for CPP!

SlitheyTove: for OP, “Pomona” isn’t Pomona College, but CPP.
