Hi guys,
So, my dream school is UCI for nursing. However, I was admitted as a psychology (my alternate) major. I heard it is easier to transfer into their nursing program if you are already a student there. So I would apply sophomore year. If I don’t get in I would probably try and transfer to usf or Dominican or a state school with a nursing program. Is this doable? and would I still finish in 4 years?
I was also admitted to USF and Dominican to their nursing program. this would be less risky but it’s very expensive and Dominican is very small and I’m not sure if I would get the college feel I am looking for. What are your opinions on either of these schools for nursing?
Any comments, suggestions, questions, or tips would be appreciated greatly!
I’m having the same problem. UCI is my dream school as well but USF accepted me into their nursing program too. I’m also deciding whether or not to take the risk of attending UCI and do prerequisites or just go directly into nursing at USF. I spoke to multiple UCI representatives and they basically told me that there is a slim chance of us transferring into the nursing science major. UCI does see potential in us since we’re admitted students, but it is still going to be extremely challenging.
I don’t want to regret my decision so that’s why I haven’t committed to either school yet. I guess I’m leaning more towards USF since it’s more realistic and less stressful. I don’t know if attending UCI with the constant reminder that you must receive a C or higher in every prerequisite class is ideal. I don’t want to go to school with that on my mind everyday. The slim chances with the addition of academic pressure is exceptionally burdensome and questionable, but if you’re up for the challenge and confident that you’ll fulfill all the requirements then by all means pursue it. If you’re not and still processing the situation that we’re both in then idk… It’s honestly a tough decision.
I hope everything will work out for you and I! Good luck!
