ucimperium: I think it does depend on your major as well as your other factors (GPA,SAT)

I was waitlisted at UCSB and was rejected today. I actually called their admission officer and she said that no one was admitted off the waitlist. She said that this 2011 looked bad for many of the waitlist applicants. As you know many of the UCs are admitting more out of state students rather than in state. I have decided to just attend Cal Poly Pomona for Electrical Engineering, at the end.

Same here. I found out yesterday that I was placed on the transfer waitlist for UC Irvine and will find out their final decision no later than 6/15/2011. Why is it that these UC schools are placing more people on the waitlist instead of rejecting them? Or if these schools have no intentions of admitting students from the waitlist, why create one?

I am also a transfer student that was put on the waitlist for Criminology, Law and Society major. Does anyone know how do they choose who gets in from the waitlist if new spots were to be available???

I know some waitlisters will get in. I’m sure theres plenty of people who got in that got accepted to other universities, and only using UCI as a back up.

Got accepted to UCSB and UCR, and waitlisted to UCI…But UCI is my top choice since its the only UC who has Criminology major. Does anyone know??? Anything would help. All this wait sucks!!

This same thing happened last year. According to someone previously in this post, they said all the results come out on the 15th which means they’re all probably the same result. So it’s either all rejections, or all acceptances. I heard they put about 1500 people on the waiting list and it seems to me that a LOT of people aren’t attending UCI so hopefully it’s a lot of acceptances? I don’t know. But last year I think everyone found out on the same day and everyone got rejected… :(

It will be on the 15th. Not necessarily all the same decision - some may get in, some may not. However, the past two years it has all been the same way ('09 - all in, '10 - none in).

For freshman, major makes no difference. Also, legacy makes no difference.

Don’t give up, but pursue other opportunities.

There were 1,500 undergraduate schools put under the waitlist. As of now, I’m not feeling very hopeful. UCSB and UCSC waitlists came out and not a single person got accepted.
