UCI- what is taking so long???

i still havent heard from uci.. i understand about ucla but ughhh i just want to know already.

is anyone else still waiting??

I am.
What are your stats?

me too…

It just takes time. Not all of the applicants who have done TAG have got a reply back yet either.

I just heard from UCI this morning. I checked my email and they notified me that my status had changed. I checked the site and I was accepted. 4.0 - Econ.

Still waiting…got into UCD on Monday

Still waiting on UCI, UCSD and UCD(as well as UCLA and Cal, but those will come later)

I got into UCSB today though!

I got notified from UCI about my Financial Aid. I’m sure more decisions will be released, mid-April now! [:

Good luck!

[UCI granting admission to far fewer students - Sciencedude - OCRegister.com](http://sciencedude.freedomblogging.com/2009/04/13/uci-giving-more-applicants-cold-shoulder/25047/)

There is your answer.

It also contains the answers as to why UCSC seems to be declining admission to overly qualified applicants.

^
Thanks for that article! [:

"Several campuses, including Berkeley, Merced and Riverside, were able to offer admission to a greater number of applicants. The remaining campuses, including Davis, Irvine, UCLA, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz , reduced their number of admissions offers for the fall 2009 term due to the enrollment of a larger than expected freshman class in previous terms. "

Berkeley was one to increase freshman admission… damn.

Damn. That hurts. I’m losing all hope…

is that article based on the freshmens only? or is it affecting us as transfer students also?

I was just accepted by UCI this morning at 3 A.M. as a junior level transfer student for the political science major.
Hopefully more of you have received acceptance notifications today!

Yeah i just got accepted at 3 A.M. this morning as well as a junior level transfer for civil engineering! Finally happy to hear from at least one school. And i still have 3 more to hear from. Since there still pending im still thinking confident. But this has defiantly raised my confidence for sure.

j.irvin I’m a civil engineer too. I haven’t heard yet. Do you mind sharing your stats?

Yeah, because Im sure with my stats it’ll give people hope. Don’t bash me though if you feel there too low because to me and what i’ve been through from high school to now its an accomplishment.

3.0 GPA, currently taking 18 units with all A’s and B’s, all pre-reqs done, essays were strong.

What about you? It’d be nice to know a future civil engineer transfer.

I’m at Berkeley right now 3.14 GPA no TAG. Humanities for my major will be completed this sem (but the GE’s aren’t University-wide at Cal so idk if they take that as “UC Reciprocity”) I think my essays were convincing, but I had no help on them so I’m not sure.
I hope I get in! It would be awesome knowing a civil engineering transfer if I get in
Right now I can’t do any work because I’m so anxious!

yeah, that’s how i was, and even though my main school is davis who i have yet to hear from the nerves have really died down since i heard from at least one school. Why would you want to transfer out of berkeley though? thats like the engineering school to go too on the west coast i hear lol.

haha it is. It has the best undergrad and graduate civil engineering program. Anyways there are several reasons. I wanna be in socal, I want a higher GPA (they look at your GPA more when going to grad school and at a workplace), and most engineering departments don’t accept their own undergrads into their grad programs. And it’s the grad school you went to that matters most. Also I don’t wanna leave california for grad school. And I want to drive and I can’t up here I feel stuck.
