UCLA 2023 Waitlist Thread

@SGates Email. Berkeley has way too many applicants // too little funding to do phone calls.

Engineering major son got in off waitlist on 5/8/2019. He was notified via email that there was a change in his portal. Good luck to everyone. There are a ton of great schools out there.

He’s in-state.

@Denma88 what major for engineering?

@Gumbymom, For someone on the waitlist, would you recommend trying to submit a LOCI at this stage for a STEM award being given later this month?

@Ansun @suuwhoop My understand, based on a note from @Gumbymom earlier, is that they will formally notify everyone that the waitlist is closed and the waitlist process has been completed at some point - and that is when you not there is no longer a chance. I am assuming until the make that notification there is a chance. I don’t think they individually “reject” people on the waitlist before that time - everyone not accepted off the waitlisted essentially gets “rejected” at the same time.

@Caldreaming: I think it is a little too late to submit additional materials since UCLA has already accepted applicants off the waitlist. You can try to submit, but I think it will not be considered.

@Ansun @suuwhoop: Correct in that UCLA will notify waitlisted applicants when the close the waitlist which means all will be rejected at that time.

@Ansun @suuwhoop In an earlier reply someone stated that on the same day 3 kids from his school were admitted off the waitlist 1 kid from the same school was told he was rejected. The scenario you outline above seems right but who knows for sure.

@CreatorStarx Hi, sorry i meant for UCLA

This is awesome news, congratulations and good luck.

Aerospace major.

I think i’m done waiting. To Berkeley I go I guess

Has anyone received regret letters?

No regret letters yet. 2 kids that appealed their decisions from my D HS were admitted today. Hope it is a good sign that the numbers are a little short. Still hoping and waiting…

Is it highly unlikely to get off the waitlist now?

Keep the faith. Chances are slimmer and slimmer by the day but UCLA has pulled from the waitlist into June on many years. Until they announce admissions is closed for 2019 you all have a chance.

Once you receive your offer off the waitlist, how much time do you have to reply?

Any news today. What is the reason that UCLA only take less than 10% from wait list while Berkeley takes almost 40%.

@Gumbymom @10s4life Does anyone know if UCLA is still going to be sending out waitlist acceptances? Is it still possible to be pulled off of the waitlist or are the chances really really low now? Also, is it possible they could be waiting for more students to withdraw or not accept their waitlist acceptances and then pull more students off the waitlist?

I don’t think anyone know.
There is a lot of people off waiting list of other school. There is a lot of people double enroll (didn’t cancel the first enroll school after off waiting list). So hope those double enroll student respectfully inform the school that they are not going to attend
