UCLA 2023 Waitlist Thread

@10s4life . . . didn’t mean to imply that you were lucky to gain entry to UCLA and accepted immediately, though you did jump at the acceptance. What I meant was that you’ve seized the opportunity in UCLA’s EE program and are doing well, i.e., killing it.

My counselor expected this year will have record high students off of the waiting list, yet seems very quiet.

@LukySon Based on what?

@LukySon Ya if anything less will be because UCLA’s yield rate is going up.

My S just got off the waitlist this morning! I am wondering if someone can talk to me about whether or not housing will be an issue (since it’s saturday and the office is closed until TUESDAY!!

@Haysmom, Congratulations! I found info on housing for wait listed students who are admitted in two places. If you look at the UCLA housing website “Freshman Student Housing Guarantee,” under IMPORTANT it says that students admitted late between April 15 and May 15 would have 15 days from their admissions notice to submit a housing application and be guaranteed housing. I know that you are out of that window, though. However, in Ask Housing “Freshman late admission,” it says that that wait listed students have until June 1, 2019 to still obtain a housing guarantee. I would call housing when they are open to confirm, but from the info it looks good. Also fyi, I called housing earlier and was told that wait listed students would be processed with the transfers, so housing offers would be received around June 10. Here are the links if they are allowed:

@StillLotsToLearn Thank you so much!!!

Sorry everyone but earlier I said my friend received a regret letter when I got in, but I just found out there was a special circumstance when he emailed “disclosed information” to them. So that’s probably why he received a regret letter

Also I went to the “Wait is over” session on Transfer Bruin day and they made a huge impression on me for how much time and thought goes into waitlisted applications. The admissions department is good at what it does.

What major did he get into ?

@Surla2019 are you asking me? If so he got in Physics!

Just got off the waitlist on May 25th. I am so excited because ucla is definitely my dream school. I am an international and major in psych. I think ucla will continue to send out more acceptances, but the waves will definitely be smaller than the previous. I was also very anxious when seeing lots of ppl got off in the earliest two biggest waves in the beginning of May but I didn’t.

congrats! I’m too an intl student waitlisted, really excited for u.

Off of the waitlist on May 25th and accepted as a bio major OOS!

To everyone still waiting, never give up and remember to check your portaI!!––UCLA didn’t email me when they updated it so just be aware. SO excited, it’s still crazy for me especially because I had given up hope since I’m OOS…goes to show that anything’s possible–––Go bruins!!

got off the waitlist 25th May & so happpyyyyy!!
i’m an international student - econ major :slight_smile:

@katvcarpi do you mind if I ask about your stats? I’m also oos bio and wondering how likely it is for me to get off the waitlist at this point

@dbragen1118 Sure!

OOS
Weighted GPA: 4.1
SAT: 1380
APs: English, Bio, Computer Science A, Spanish, Psych
Extra-Curriculars: Pres. of Newspaper, Pres. of Asian-Am Club, Co-editor of Magazine, etc

But in all honesty, I think the driving factor was my essays and what I stated in the additional comments in the waitlist app. Best of Luck!

@Haysmom in state , oos or international ?

I got off the waitlist 25th of May as well! In-state with biochemistry for my major.
Had pretty average stats: 1340 SAT and 4.6 weighted GPA
I think it was my additional info that solidified things for me. Keep up hope, it came when I least expected it.

@Surla2019 He is in State, GPA: 4.0 unweighted 4.4 weighted, 9 APs and 3 Honors, ACT: 35, SAT Subject: Math II 760, Chem 760, attends an environmental leadership magnet school, created and ran marketing on a business junior year, 4 Year Waterpolo Team (2 on varsity), Senior Internship, some clubs, community service experience. He just listed his first semester grades and a little bit about what he’d been up to in his internship on his additional.
