UCLA - Acting decision?

Has anyone been accepted to Acting -UCLA?
If so, could you please share your stats? (SAT and GPA?)

I think you will have a better chance of finding what you’re looking for in the above thread. There is one mom in the parent FB group for my D’s coaching service that posted her D was accepted today in state…and that was after all rejections so far. I really believe that it’s an academic admit much more than it is based on audition.

Possibly I am the mom who posted about my daughter’s acceptance and I will assure you it was not academic.

@westcoaster1 - that isn’t what marg928 was saying. It wasn’t saying your admit was only academic. It was talking about the school.

I understand. My daughter auditioned on campus and it went very, very well. She was there about 5 hours for monologues, movement and an interview. She got great feedback but you never know… she had great feedback at several other auditions. That and a dollar… What I was saying is that her grades are not up to the typical UCLA standard. She is a smart girl, but we are talking 3.85, not 4.2 and her ACT was at the low end of what UCLA could accept. It would seem that her talent made the difference as opposed to her grades being the deciding factor. I posted about her acceptance on a private Facebook group page, after several rejections from schools that she had hoped to attend. I was surprised to recognize my story here, with what seemed like a comment regarding my daughter’s talent made by someone who doesn’t know her.

Congrats to your D on her UCLA admission, @westcoater1. My son goes to a PA high school in California, knows several kids in theatre at UCLA, and it is definitely not a purely academic admit. She should be very proud of that acceptance!

@westcoaster1 I have been on these boards for over two years, and since September have been tirelessly posting in order to help others. I would not have even known about coaching if it weren’t for these boards. My D is already a freshman in a program so I don’t need to be here but I do it to pay it forward. College Confidential is the place to go to find out inside information about a school and their programs. I’m not sure where you’ve been but you could have helped others weeks ago by posting your D’s acceptance and stats when she received the UCLA notification. Historically there has not been much info on how UCLA goes about choosing its class. Everything that is posted here is anonymous but is done to help others navigate this extremely difficult process. I will say that at the parent info session that they really scare the kids with all their talk of how academic of a school it is, so it’s not too far-fetched to assume they weigh academics at least as much as the audition. I would encourage you to visit the acting thread and post your D’s story. I don’t believe there is anyone else on there whose child was accepted to UCLA. That is a very big accomplishment so congrats to her! Here’s the link in case you are not familiar with the thread I am referring to:

There’s no obligation to post info here on CC, and in any event she’s now given her stats in this UCLA-dedicated thread if someone does a search for UCLA. It’s more useful here than buried in the regular acting discussion thread. Congrats again @westcoaster1!

@westcoaster1 CONGRATULATIONS on UCLA! She is clearly very talented! Best of luck!
