I need a fast answer to my question because there is only 2 hours left to drop a class without W. UCLA political sience department is asking for only 4 major classes. POl S 101, 102, 103 and Stats 136. I have completed IGETC and have taken POl S 101 and Stats 136. This semester I am taking POl S 103
Do you guys think it is ok to take the last major class (Pol S 102) in Spring semester, or it will decrease my chances to get accepted... Please give me some idea regarding their policies... Thanks in advance.....

i think you should be ok

In your UC application, you will be asked to write down all the courses you've completed so far, the courses you're enrolled in right now, and the courses you'll be enrolling in for Spring. If they see on your application that you're finishing all the prereqs for your major by the end of spring, then you'll be evaluated as someone who is going to have all the prereqs completed. The important thing for them to see is that you are planning to take all of those classes before you transfer, even though you have yet to take them at the time of application.

By the way, the UCs ask for a "work-in-progress" update by the end of the fall semester, to verify that you completed the work that you said you were going to complete for fall, and also for them to have your most recent GPA. It is your GPA as of the end of fall 05 - your most recent one - that they will look at in your application.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

I thank you so much for your detailed and very useful answer.
The best of the best to you.

I remember going to a lot of transfer seminars for UCLA. They said they wanted all major prep to be done before Spring semester, but I'm sure they'd make exceptions if you have good reasons for not finishing by then.

Do they factor in the Winter 06' semester grades if your CCC offers it? This would increase my GPA GREATLY

well, on the UC application guide, it says that both winter/fall grades would count.

I am guessing that for schools that have quarter systems, both the fall and the winter grades would count.

you dont have anything to worry about. I'm in the exact same situation. I'm currently taking 3 of the 4 pre-reqs and Ill take the last one next semester for a Fall 2006 transfer. I've asked numerous people, emailed, and called. The answer is the same: "You should be fine". They don't care.

Your respond really calmed me down.. Thanks a lot.

I was wondering if you attend a CCC that offers more prereqs than another CCC thus you would have more prereqs completed than the other applicants, would you be more competitive?

I'm also in the same situation. Sp now after reading these coments, I feel comfortable.
