UCLA Admissions Class of 2026 Discussion

I read the first GPA (all 4 years) to also be weighted…it’s the only time I’ve seen a UC request anything with all 4 years…but in reality they weren’t totally clear if they wanted your school’s weighted GPA for that period, or unweighted.

The second GPA is the standard UC 2 year weighted and capped GPA (which basically maxes out at 4.4, iirc…but having one a little lower than that may actually be desireable because the only way you can max out is taking fewer classes…there are inherent drawbacks in the W&C calculation IMO, which, if it was all that mattered, would discourage taking a more rigorous schedule…in the case of Regents, where I don’t think they see a transcript?, that might have a little impact, whereas the AO’s are quite used to seeing W&C scores and know the nuances.

Scholarship readers are alumni volunteers. They don’t start reading the applications until after students are notified of their admission status.

My kid never received the email. Was accepted. :woman_shrugging: Huge number of people who lurk here and don’t post. There’s zero correlation. Anecdotal at best.

2020

Admission vs Alumni invite correlation has weakened over the years because a much larger group is being invited now.

My daughter was a 2020 admit. This was before test optional. We know several kids who got the invite and we’re rejected. There’s no correlation.

At the best of times, we have heard there was a 60% chance of admission if you got an Alumni invite. So 40% got rejected even at that time.
This maybe bcos Alumni invite criteria (gpa and more focus on EC’s and leadership potential) and admission criteria (then gpa + sat/act) are different. So, some lower gpa kids might get Alumni invite but stand no chance in admissions

But that’s my point. You “heard”. It’s 100% anecdotal based on what people have heard or read on forums.

How do you know that? @lkg4answers

No, we heard it from the forum champion who worked in admissions and is now an alumni scholarship reader. It is not anecdotal information.

Your experience is anecdotal.

Do u think it lowers your chance if you get the invite to alumni and don’t apply! Aka they consider you lazy or not interested…

No, they are completely separate processes.

When will decisions be released?

Still no word on UCLA Regents? Any idea why they’re so delayed this year?

looks like Regents for UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis and UCSB are all behind schedule.

Delayed Regents at UCLA? The app deadline was just 2 days ago.

The app deadline that was two days ago was for the Alumni Scholarship, not for the Regents Scholarship. One is awarded by the Alumni Association and the other is awarded by the university.

Note, as I was grabbing links for the scholarships above, the wording on the UCLA website about the Regents scholarship still says, " Students determined by Undergraduate Admission to be the strongest applicants within the context of UCLA’s holistic review process will be invited to submit a Regents Scholarship application at the beginning of February prior to admission decision release date. Applications will be reviewed for this award by Faculty Committee on Honors, Awards and Prizes. Students selected for this award will be notified when they receive their admission decision and Provisional Award Letter (PAL)."

Gotcha…I was not reading closely enough…Have there been confirms that Regents invites went out and it’s just decisions that are being delayed/questioned, or were the invites delayed too!?

To our knowledge, Regents invites have not gone out this year.
