UCLA alumni scholarship

i got the call. 3.85 gpa.

I haven’t got any phone call from UCLA (4.0 GPA) :frowning: :(

I got the call this morning. I have a 4.0 GPA. How long after these calls were made last year did they post admissions decisions?

Got one too, didn’t pick it up (was at work), they left me a message… Come on, UCLA, release those decisions already…

People need to actually read the thread before posting questions. Sweetnezz and krnnoodles already answered a bunch of your questions.

However, because I am bored I will graciously reiterate the answers for you…

3.75 is the minimum GPA required to be eligible for the scholarship.

You need to have at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units prior to matriculating to UCLA in order to receive the scholarship

Last year people started receiving calls on the 10th. Decisions were then released on a rolling basis from the 23-25.

As for my question does anyone know the answer? I’ll repeat it again.

Thanks in advance

i know that the alumni scholarship itself is not need based, but based on GPA and answers to a few essay questions, participation in EC’s, etc. i am not sure about the additional 5k.

the girl that called me today said the alumni scholarship was merit based and depending on whether i get the scholarship or not, i could qualify for need based stuff.

i got a call too,.the only thing i want to know now is that does it mean we already get in…
my gpa is 3.9
by the way, it seems like all the applicants need to have a very formal interview to get that scholarship…

no, it does not mean you got in.

no, it doesn’t mean your in. it’s just based on your gpa being above 3.75, unaffected by how impacted your major is. if your major is easy to get into, you stand a good shot, since you qualified for the merit scholarship and the major doesn’t have a high gpa range, but if your major is like communications or business econ, with average gpas in like the 3.8+ area, then you’re still in trouble.

that’s kind of unfair how they don’t take into account your major because engineering/bio/chem majors would have lower GPAs (on average since the classes are so much harder) than let’s say an english/poli sci/communcations major (no offence to those but their prereqs are alot easier).

I applied as a biochemistry major and my GPA isn’t above 3.75. It’s shy of it by like .1, and the girl who called me told me that I was being called because my GPA qualified. Take that as you will.

Don’t panic about this. The calls are completely random, based on last year’s thread.

I received the call last April and didn’t meet the minimum GPA for the scholarship. I was also ultimately rejected by UCLA.

Well… That’s encouraging.
