UCLA Appeal

They don’t accept letters of rec for appeals.

Ok thank you b/c I got confused when I was reading that last part.

Did you hear back from UCLA?

If your argument as to why you should be reconsidered for admission is because UCLA is the best major for your intentions, you haven’t demonstrated why you are a good candidate, rather just elaborated your desires.

Being close to a hamburger joint, a beach, or your brother doesn’t exactly sell the idea of offering you admission; this is a criteria anyone could use, again, offering you no real advantage.

No, no response yet.

You bring no new relevant information to the table. I wouldn’t expect that they’d change their decision.

When do they come out? i appealed too

There is no set date but I think somewhere in the region of 3 weeks after the day you submit it.

As somebody who was in a similar situation and was accepted to UCLA through appeals as well as helped underclassmen get into other UCs via appeals, I do not think your appeal will greatly increase your chances. Nothing new was brought to the table and you didn’t really explain how you would be an asset to the university. Your stats are very high however, and SAT scores are over-rated. It is still possible you might get accepted.

What did you write in your appeal?

What did you write in your appeal?

I got into UCLA last year by appeal although I did not attend. I had some medical hardships I hadnt mentioned before. You should write about why the school will benefit from YOU not why you will benefit from the school. They know how great their school is but what will you bring. Also there is no new information not mentioned in your previous app. Most of your essay (points 1,2,4) talk about how UCLA is great for you but you did not tell them why you are a stronger candidate than previously mentioned in your app. I agree with azureaura that it would be one in a million since there are many people with your stats that get rejected.

Has anyone heard back from UCLA yet?

Do you think they gonna replay to appeal prior to May 1st? I mean at last we knew that don’t count on UCLA and submit the other college deposit prior to deadline. :(

They said that they would try to respond by May 1, but at this point I have no idea when they will. I hope it’s soon because I have to make a decision.

You should all assume two things.

You will not hear from UCLA before May 1

Your rejection will not be overturned

You just need to be realistic and move on. Submit an SIR to another school and move on from UCLA. They take so few people off the wait lists that you don’t want to hold out hope. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones, then you can decide. But don’t wait on submitting SIRs to other schools because you can get left with nothing if you wait.

i agree it probably won’t come before may 1st so plan accordingly… but don’t think there’s a 100% chance it won’t, obviously. I got my decision today. unfortunately they rejected me again. it has been my dream to go there since i was a freshman so it sucks but c’est la vie. and also, like what was previously said, don’t expect their decision to change… 96% are rejected again sooooooo
i believe i submitted the appeal on the 12th… can’t completely remember to be honest.
i think from what i’ve heard ( i could be wrong), is that usually the sooner you hear from them for appeals, the more likely it’s a rejection…
but idk how much of that is true.
best of luck with your decision!

when do you think they will be out?

I submitted mine on April 3 and still have not heard back. I hope they post the decision by Monday, but am not planning on it. Most likely it will be after May 1.

@mitch what did you talk about in your appeal?
