I think the sooner you hear from them, the more likely it’s a rejection. They need to take into account everyone who did not SIR and then deal with people on the waitlist. I’m guessing the sooner they get to you, that they already know their answer for sure, and that is no.

I still have not heard back yet. Fingers crossed that that is a good thing.

when do you think they will be out? still under review…

Rumor has it that most UC’s will post the answer of their appeal decisions tomorrow afternoon. If not I guess we will just have to SIR to another school and wait to hear back from LA.

You guys do know that you can just submit an SIR first and then withdraw from that school if you should get in via appeals right?..

Yes we know but we would lose money if we did that.

Pretty sure the process goes in this order: freshmen>transfers>wait list>appeals. Therefore appeals will probably be last… SIR to another school, you will most likely have to lose the money like I have to with the wait list if accepted.

anyone know when they will come out?

I called admissions yesterday and they said that they will not be able to post appeals decisions by May 1 so that we should SIR to another campus in the meantime. Son SIR’ed to UC Davis last night just to be safe.

I SIR’ed to Davis last night as well. I was also reading some old posts on College Confidential earlier regarding UCLA appeals. From what it seems like, most people found out the result of their appeal between May 15-25. So just hang tight for now and prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

wowwwww ok lol all late

Hey Guys any new updates? I know they are accepting from waitlists right now. But what about us?

We won’t know until about May 20. I think everyone finds out at the same time. And based on past statistics, I wouldn’t be optimistic because very few have made it in through appeal. Obviously everyone has a small shot with a well written appeal, but be realistic with your chances. I will post the result of my appeal as soon as I find out. Good luck!

What ever happened to the “around 3 weeks after submit”?

Yes the wait is torturing us. We’ve had to submit SIR to another campus, along with the $100 fee. We’ve also signed up for housing along with a $500 deposit. My guess is that they were simply crushed with the avalanche of applications this year.

It’s the same every year for UCLA. Obviously most people don’t know how long the response takes because they only appeal once to UCLA. The admissions office says three weeks, but it always takes 6-8 weeks if not more. Personally, I think the $100 SIR fee is an insignificant loss if I got into LA. Fortunately, the $500 housing fee for all UC’s is refundable until June 30. So you won’t lose any money there. All in all, losing $100 to get into LA seems like a good deal to me.

^Berkeley’s is only $20!

Decisions are up. I just received and email from UCLA.
