I was recently accepted to UCLA for my alternate major, History. I am appealing to get into Communications Studies (my first choice), and mailed my materials (post marked May 22nd) . I'm aware that UCLA claims a 3-week period to process each appeal, but that the real number is closer to 7-10 days (?). In either case, it seems unlikely that I'll be getting a decision before the SIR deadline of June 1st.

I am planning on going to UCLA, regardless, but was concerned that filing my SIR for history might negate my appeal for communications. Any thoughts or past experiences?

Why wouldn’t you just accept your SIR? I doubt that if you actually do get into Communications on appeal that they will completely reject it after you SIR, if you are alerady SIRed to their school I don’t think the process of changing a major would be that difficult. I wouldn’t risk not having a SIR at all with the chance of waiting past the deadline, especially since either way you are going to go there anyways.

I’m in the same boat but with cal
I got into cal for economics in spring not fall. so i have SIRed at LA, while my appeal is in process at cal for change of semester.
i don’t want to SIR at two places as there are rumor that u might get rescinded from both schools.
so i’m just waiting for my appeal, hoping it goes thru, and then ill choose which one to attend if i get into spring 10(reject appeal
