If you get an invite to the open house, or are admitted. Post it here and share your details.

I have not got an invite yet, but last year those who did were accepted into the program

anyone get one yet?

Me too…Im waiting for the open house invitation…always checking the mail box but still didn
t get one…I hope they didn
t send it yet…I think we should wait until end of march

ya, last year they came around the end of March. I’m crossing my fingers. Would you mind sharing your submitted portfolio. I’m trying to get an idea of what everyone submitted. I can send you mine too.

hey people up there!

i’m also waiting for UCLA’s announcement. it’s my dream to get admitted to the architecture program. however, the end of march is near, and i haven’t received any e mail yet…and now i’m like checking my e mail over ten times a day… hope they haven’t sent any…

btw
to the people above, i’m also trying to get an idea about what people summited. i would appreciate if any of you guys can share yours with me. i’d like to share mine too.
just sent me an email of your profolio to simonbeings@hotmail.com, I will reply with my profolio attached. thanks a lot : )

Simonbeings: I add your email on MSN messenger.
syrinx: could you tell me your MSN Id? cause I don`t want to post my work here haha…

btw..I applied to Design|Media Arts major. BUt I still want to share the works tho..

and the bad news? I heard about a girl from my school that got into Design|media arts last week!! how come?? I don`t know what’s going on. could anyone call to the art and arch. department and ask if they had sent the invitation letter or not?

Hi, I’m currently in the architecture program and the Open House for undergraduates is on April 10. Still plenty of time for that letter to get to you. As far as I know, that letter pretty much means you’re in, provided you’ve met the admissions requirements. The department’s not allowed to say it officially until the main admin reviews and confirms the formalities (GPA, transcripts, etc.).

If you don’t get a letter, don’t give up just yet. There is a wait list for those who did get letters but chose to attend another school (if I remember correctly, a handful of people I met at Open House did turn down their acceptances).

In case you’re curious, my acceptance letter came on April 22 last year.

slowpok, I don’t have MSN messenger, but if you want to send me your portfolio, I will reply with mine attached. Evanthomas1@gmail.com

just to make sure.
they send the open house invitation letter via e-mail or traditional mail? will it takes longer if i live in san francisco?

The invitation letter is sent through traditional mail. It shouldn’t take any longer to get to you just because you live in San Francisco (I believe they are sent all at once from campus via first-class mail).

Also a note about sharing portfolios (for future reference): it’s great if you want ideas regarding layout and composition but content-wise, it really won’t make a difference. To be honest, nobody in my studio is quite sure how or why they’d gotten in. All we know is that we must have done something right, we just don’t know what that something is.

Having seen and compared my classmates’ portfolios to my own, I’d say we were all chosen for different reasons. The selection certainly seemed random enough. Some portfolios showcased architectural experience using digital models, some (like mine) were observational drawings. Others used collages, photography, painting, sculpture, etc. Just pick whatever medium you like best and go for it.

Good luck to you all! I look forward to seeing you at Open House.

I got an open house invitation last week in the mail and as an email! I’m a transfer student and have yet to receive an official acceptance letter. I’m crossing my fingers! :)

Also,

To danieln92000, I rsvp’d to the open house online and it says it is on Friday April 16, not April 10…

Congrats Ilovecalc, that most likely means you were accepted. Unfortunately I have not received an invite yet :(

I guess they probably sent the invitation letters to all the applicants who are accepted right? so for those who didn’t receive anything, that means they are rejected??
did anyone get accepted to ucla arch without an invitation letter before?

Don’t give up yet guys!!

Hmmm, that’s strange. Perhaps there’s more than one Open House. The calendar in studio says there’s on on the 10th…

Congrats to ILoveCalc, you’re in as long as you meet university requirements and not do anything stupid (e.g. fail or suddenly drop a class you listed as in progress). Expect a phone call from one of us in the coming weeks. We won’t be allowed to officially say you’re in, but you are. See you at Open House! (I hope I can get up in time)

To everyone else: I repeat ILoveCalc’s message, don’t give up! There are some people in here that never got the letter or attended Open House.

Can one attend the open house with out getting an invite?

I got a phone call yesterday!!! I’m soooo happy. I heard it was really competitive this year. Only 18 people got accepted?!

is it possible to appeal the decision???
