Ucla Arts...!!!!

check? CA MON

to my knowledge...people who got the open house card all got accepted. Meaning...i don't know of anyone who got rejected that got the open house invitation yet.

had a talented art friend not get the letter, and got rejected, but got accepted at Cal.....that letter seems like it went to all the acceptees.....not gettting it was bad news

hhm

i wish i can find out for a transfer because I'm not going to travel down there to find out it was a waste for me.

i do want to see how the arch program will compare to cals. and for some reason, to me it's not an acceptance yet.

dudei know someone that got into calarts but rejected to ucla. intense stuff.

vyan....when I talked to the Art department about my invitation they told me directly that the invitation means the department has accepted you....as long as you meet UC general admissions standards for a transfer, whatever those are, you're in!......go to the open house!....and by the way my Dad went to architecture school at UCLA and said it was a great experience...that's one of the reasons I applied there...

I've been told that the invite is a good thing (possibly acceptance), but I want to know for sure. I want this to be true very badly.

I received the open house invite and I am also a transfer student. The invite asks for RSVP prior to April 6th. And transfer students supposedly will not be formally accepted until late in April.

What's the deal?

^ the thing that worries me is that when im done by spring , im 9(or less) units short i think for the required units?

I specifically indicated that in my application and I have insisted them that the 9 units can easily be done by summer time. You think I can still be screwed for this?

Chappa- that doesn't necessarily mean automatic guarantee admittance. the department accepted you,but that doesn't mean the Main university did. Anything can still happen so I'm hoping I can find out sooner so I can make the decision whether to attend the open house. Anyone can help me with this?

^ im with you on this one kasmer81. I'm not financially well off just to make "visits". If you can find out how to know our status anytime sooner than the expected due date, please let me know.

I understand how you feel because until I saw my official acceptance online yesterday there was always that little bit of worry...so yes...it's not 100%.....but somehow I don't think the departments would pick people who couldn;t get past the general admissions...that would be a waste....so let's say you're 95% in....those are good odds!

^ true, but there is that 5% still and I know I'm never lucky in my life.

^ im not sure how the department and the main university works. I am hoping they review my grades/courses as well and not just the Architecture requirements (such as the portfolio,etc.). Like i said, I won't have the full units done until Summer which I think it's going to be that 5% that will boot me from the school. I hope they really do review all my stuff and not just the department supplemental information.

are there any other transfer students in my shoes or should i create another thread for this particular situation?

^ the RSVP date is coming soon and i still don't know my admission status.

any info where a transfer can find out early?

I will post here as soon as I find an answer to that question.

I only live about 35 minutes away from the campus, so I am going to RSVP and go to the open house if I don't receive an answer by Monday afternoon. I'm not too worried personally. I was accepted to UCSB, so I know that I am UC eligible. My GPA isn't the best, but it's also not bad. I submitted five strong pieces and beside that, it just stresses me out too much to think about.

^yo kazmer81 thanks for replying. Yea let me know asap.

we have to rsvp by the 6th. Im worried alittle because Im not sure if the department took a look at my WHOLE application with the grades and the personal statements.

I had to do another personal statement for arch as well and that's what i keep thinking, maybe the other stuff that I had to do for architecture was good but the regular application isn't. im crossing my finger.

PM me if you have to. I hope they do give us an answer!

^ btw,

as a transfer, the expected units to be completed is 60 units. after im done with spring, i only have 52 units. Im 8 units short. you think this can jeopardize my admission? I just need to take calc 2 and physics.

How many of your transfer units are specific to your major? That's something that they take into account when making admission decisions. I think...

I could be wrong, but I heard this from someone and it made sense to me.

^ Kazmer,

I don't know. Architectural studies just opened this fall 07 so there isn't any course articulation
So im not sure what they're accepting from me. However, I do know that my courses follow UCB architecture program because that was where i intended to go.

I want to find out my admission status before open house because at my current financial status, im not ready to make "visits"

I went to the open house today and I just got home. Not really any more information. However, all of us were congratulated (including transfer students) for being accepted by the UCLA School of Arts and Arch.

So, to all who received the invitation, congratulations!

With that said, 60+ units must be completed prior to transfer. I am under the impression that summer school classes will be accepted. Basically, it's not competitive at this point. Atleast that's what I got out of it.

Hope this helps!

for some reason, i know something will go wrong. This letter doesn't mean anything until i see the official letter.

i thank you alot kazmer. Man, as a transfer, i pray/crossing my fingers that everything will be ok.

i wished i have gone to see and ask around how they would at my situation.

do you know if arch students get their own studio?

"i wished i have gone to see and ask around how they would look at my situation"*

Hi, Applied for the UCLA DMA and was wondering does it work the same as the architecture? Do you have to get invited to the orientation? I am a transfer student and did not recieve any invitation. Does this mean that I did not get in If i did not recieve an invitation by now?
