Hi. I'm currently a sophomore in highschool and I was planning on graduating as a junior. I have all my credits for an advance studies diploma, I play 3 sports, I have amazing volunteer specs because I've won numerous awards, I wrote two poems which were published internationally in two different poetry books, and more.

The problem for me is that I have a really low gpa of around 3.4 unweighted and 3.67 weighted because my school is ALL about teachers. I happened to get the worst ones I hate it. But, my sat right NOW is a 2290 and can raise it to 2400 in about 2 months. So do you think I have a chance? I want to major in something that will give me high initial salary but I'm not sure. I picked film but I'm not sure if it pays high but I won 1 or 2 film competitions online. I will have taken 8 AP by end of junior year. Is this enough? I am considering uc Berkeley or ucla or USC

If your gpa is that low, I suggest taking a senior year to boost your grades up, because they are way too low for any of the schools you mentioned

do what makes you happy. Personally, don’t think anyone should give up senior year because it’s the last time you’ll really see all of your friends together in the same place. Enjoy your time in hs, don’t rush things, you’ll be digging your own grave.

If you want to graduate a year earlier than your peers - go ahead… But personally, I would recommend staying for senior year and enjoying it unless you have issues with your school/hate it/family situations/etc.

Also, UCLA values much more than just GPA. From speaking to other admitted students, I feel that UCLA weighs community service a bit heavier than other colleges (I’ve met someone who had a strong community service background, good grades, but horrible SAT/ACT scores, and was rejected from many other UCs/CSUs; but I don’t know, maybe she was lucky). However, GPA and class rigor do play an important role (and 8 AP classes by the end of junior year is not too shabby; many people I’ve talked to- about 5-6-, have taken, at the most, 11-12).
