What are the ideal stats to have to be admitted to UCLA's Biz Econ major?( I know you are a pre-major first) I have seen many ucla biz econ threads, but they are all dealing with transfers. Does anyone know what the admit rate(undergrad) for UCLA biz econ is? And is it possible to switch into biz econ, if you're admitted to UCLA but a different major? Ive heard people say that it is virtually impossible to switch into biz econ if your an undergrad ucla student.

bump anyone??

Can anyone answer these questions for me?

When you say stats, do you mean GPA? It hovers around 3.8; other than that, I can’t really help you, sorry.

Actually, I was wrong, sorry.

Take a look for yourself…

It’s just meeting requirements.

Here’s the class requirements: [UCLA Economics](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/bizecon.cfm)

Thanks, but I am a FRESHMEN applicant, so transfer stats don’t really help.

Also, in the first link you sent, blinks09, it seems like UCLA students can transfer into the Biz Econ major, but I thought it was virtually impossible to transfer into Biz econ if you are a UCLA student who has been admitted to a different major.

if you’re a freshman, you can most likely transfer into another major in the same school (ie Letter and Sciences) without a problem. it helps even more if you’re in the same department. i was initially economics but i switched to business economics. i have a few friends that have changed in and out of biz econ as well, so don’t sweat it

From reading the OP’s questions, I think he has the idea that one applies to UCLA as a biz-econ major and is accepted as such. Or, alternatively, UCLA might offer you admission for a different major instead of biz-econ; should that happen he wonders what are the odds of switching to biz-econ. If I have accurately repeated the OPs questions, both of the questions are based on an incorrect understanding.

Sure, UCLA asks you to list a major. But for any major in the College and Letters and Science, which is where Economics and Biz-Econ are hosted, your major does not matter. Says so right at the bottom of [Freshman Selection - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/FrSel.htm) So the OP can put down any major in L&S without changing his chances of admission in the slightest. Which means the incoming admit rate for frosh applying to biz-econ is a question for which there is no answer.

Second, every student who wants to major in biz-econ must complete the pre-major requirements listed at [UCLA Economics - Requirements](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/majors/bizecon.cfm) before being accepted into the major. Nobody is accepted as a frosh applicant straight into the major (see http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Majors/lsmajor.htm and notice that biz-econ has note 1 after it – read note 1). Any undergrad in any major can enroll in all the pre-major classes, and anyone who has completed all the pre-major classes can then apply to change to a biz-econ major. If they have a 3.3 Primary Score they get in.

If the op wants his offer of admission to say pre-biz-econ, then list biz-econ as the major. But it simply doesn’t matter, neither for admission to UCLA nor for acceptance to the major. People that have told the OP that its virtually impossible to switch into biz-econ as a UCLA undergrad are dead wrong; in fact every biz-econ student who started at UCLA as a frosh had to apply once they were enrolled undergraduates to be admitted into the major.

That wasn’t worded so well. Let me try again. The OP wrote
The OP seems to believe your chances of acceptance as an entering frosh depends on what major you put down. As the link I gave in post #10 shows, frosh admission to all majors in the College of Letters & Science is independent of what major you list.

what mikemac says is true. also, one of the prerequisites for biz econ is maintaining a 3.5, but if you fail to reach the prerequisites you can still do pure econ, which has a minimum GPA of 2.0 to get in. you can take accounting class and make it your minor and thats pretty much a biz econ major
