Folks.
I am trying to decide between these two. Both in engineering colleges.
I have toured both the universities and like both of them equally well.

Is it difficult to get in classes in UCLA for CS such that regents at UCSD will be an advantage over it?
My goal is graduate studies. Will choosing one over other will make a difference in able to get admitted to reputed MS program.
Will either one will make a difference in getting internships and eventually a job if graduation path does not materialize?
How about competition and cooperation at each of these?

What other factors should I consider and Any factors which can set one apart from the other?

Thank you for any insight.

I’m in a similar situation (except with UCD CS instead of UCSD) and would also love to get other people’s thoughts about this

Many people would consider the atmosphere at UCLA and UCSD to be quite different, same with UCLA and Davis. But if you find them equally desireable then I think the Regents is a trump card in the decision. Whether you get into a good grad school is going to depend on your grades and recs, not the school you earn them at. Whether you get a good job out of college if you choose that instead of grad school is going to depend on grades and internships in college, not the college.

how is the atmosphere between the 2 colleges different?

I agree with @mikemac. If you were in Muir, I’d say 100% go to UCSD, but Warren’s alright too.

@uclastudennnnt, could you tell me bit more about your reasoning. What factors should I consider, and why would your consider Muir more appropriate then Warren? And how does related to comparing with UCLA env?

Muir has fewer GE’s for LS majors, but since you’re in engineering, I’m not sure which of the colleges is better. One of them has the most GE’s that overlap for engineering majors. It should be floating on the internet. If you’re talking about environmental engineering, UCLA is very good. UCSD should be really good as well. The difference between the two is negligible if you can get significantly better grades at either campus. Having priority registration at SD is great though. I’d recommend SD.

Thanks @uclastudennnnt. From various threads on CC it seems Warren is most engineering friendly, so that seem to work favorably for me. I been admitted to Computer Science at both, so I’ll definite appreciate more input on computer science comparison and differences. Still trying to decide between UCSD Regents and UCLA regualr. Financially they are both coming out close, so not a factor.

Either way, you can’t make a wrong choice. Congrats on the acceptances!
