Is it usual/unusual for a student who got accepted into UCLA + Cal to decide to attend UCLA for undergrad in order to improve his/her chances to get into the Haas program at Cal?

hmm can u do that? i dunno.

I’m assuming that this student wants to get into Haas for its graduate program? I don’t see how going to UCLA will improve his/her chances versus going to Cal. If anything, I see it at best equal to going to Cal for undergrad, maybe even worse.

don’t see why it would be unusual. if you see yourself doing better at la then i’d go for it. i wish i had the chance to visit berk before coming here. hmm

@ pos: I’ve heard that schools don’t really want you to stay for both undergrad/grad school and its more common to go from 1 undergrad -> diff school for grad. Is this true?

If you excel in your class and are in good academic standing, then it’s possible to go to Cal for both undergrad and grad.
I attended UCLA for undergrad and currently attending Cal for grad. I was at the top of my UCLA class, graduated with honors and was even on the Dean’s List. So I got into Cal as grad. I know some of my friends who are at Cal and applied for Cal as grad school and didn’t get in, just because they’re “average” of all the Cal applicants who applied there as grad school.
So if you can do well and stand out from the rest of the applicants who are applying to the same grad school as you do, then it’ll be fine.
