UCLA chances and UC questions

Including fall classes, I'll have at least a 3.9 GPA, and possibly a 4.0. I did not do TAP, very few ECs, and have one prerequisite to be completed in the spring. My major, psychology, is very impacted at UCLA. How likely is it that I'll be accepted?

On another note, if I'm missing 1 prerequisite for UCD, or do they want all prereqs completed by spring. I know a friend of mine got in to UCSD, but didn't complete 4 prereqs.

Thanks guys.

I’m one year behind you and want to do psychology at UCLA as well. I hear their psych program is top notch.

Anyway, your GPA is really good. And you’ve got a semester left so you can definitely get it even higher! Maybe take some extra courses that pertain to psychology. Psych at UCLA doesn’t require much in terms of pre reqs (nearly all of it is included in the IGETC!). For this reason you should take classes like child development or psychological research. If you can take classes like these it will show you’re enthusiastic about the field. But anyway get that one prereq knocked out this spring for sure. Try to get that UCD pre req done too but maybe don’t stress about that one too much.

I hear they focus primarily on prereqs and GPA, so you’ve done a good job there in my opinion. As far as ECs, I’m not sure what or how much they are looking for. I’m planning on joining a few clubs but that’s about it for me. Maybe look for volunteer positions at elementary schools or YMCA type places. I might apply for a position as an english tutor at my college. Anything like that is good.

I’d say you’re good. I might be one year behind you but I’ve researched this transfer thing a lot, especially UCLA for psychology. Just get that GPA up up and away, all prereqs done, grab a couple EC’s to throw on your app, write a really good personal statement and I’d say you’re in like flynn.
