***UCLA CLASS OF 2019 APPLICANT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Have any applicants yet received a supplemental questionnaire from UCLA? My son got one from UCB so we’re half expecting the same one from UCLA. It seems in previous years they were emailed around this time. Anyone?

Applied to UCLA (of course), Cal, UCSD, and UCSB all for computer engineering. Really excited to hear back, my sister went here and I loved the campus when we visited her!

@jazzshreddermom just received one! At 9:42pm.

yep just got my supplement! so far got one from ucsd (today, too), uc davis and ucb (both a few weeks ago)

Pre Sociology major! Got a supplemental questionnaire 3 hours ago!

Just got this email from UCLA.

Dear ****

Thank you for applying to UCLA. As part of our review process, we would like to give you the opportunity to provide additional information about yourself. This is an optional supplemental component to our review process that may assist our readers in evaluating your application.

Please log into the Application Status website at https://www.admission.ucla.edu/myapplication and click on the “Submit Supplemental Questionnaire” link on the left. If you choose to submit supplemental information, please do so by 11:59 pm, February 8, 2015.

Please note that this questionnaire is being requested on an individual basis. Not all applicants will be asked to provide additional information.

Thank you in advance for considering this request.

Sincerely,
UCLA Undergraduate Admission

Anyone else get this?

@uclabound1‌ Nope dude, but it seems to be a good sign! Good luck!!

@uclabound1‌ From what I have heard, these supplemental emails are sent out by some (every? not sure) UC campuses to students who are on the borderline of acceptance/rejection. Not sure how accurate this is, as it is just what I have heard from high schoolers, but it is what I know.

I did not get that email but I did get an email saying that I should apply for an out-of-state scholarship being that I’m OOS anyone else?

when did you guys applied and where are you all located?

@uclabound1 you just got told that you are borderline and may be accepted or rejected with the info you provide.

Try and rock their world with the supplement. :stuck_out_tongue:

should I be worried if I didn’t receive a supplemental questionnaire /:

This means that you are borderline. Make sure you provide an additional information that will rock it your way. Do not just repeat what they know.

This is one of the questions on my supplement:

“In your application you may have mentioned an extraordinary talent/skill or academic achievement. This may include participation in Junior Olympics, national debate competitions, recognition for musical talent, etc. Please take this opportunity to share with us more detailed information about the level of your achievement, depth of participation, and passion for this particular area.”

I’m pretty sure that I never mentioned ANY extraordinary talent in my application. To say the least, I’m just an average applicant with pretty good stats. What am i supposed to do? Should I just talk about one of my ECs?

You got a talent supplement. It has something to do with EC you listed.

I may be wrong, but I believe UCLA"s supplement kind of makes you pick the question that might’ve been indicated in your app (talent; LD/medical issue; borderline grades or stats due to financial or other hardship). Perhaps answer another question?

Talk with your family, counselor, etc. to figure out what possibly stood out to the UCLA admissions people. Idk if you’re applying to UCB, but a few people in that thread were given the supplemental questions as well. Honestly- pick whatever you’re most proud of or whatever seems the most impressive. Perhaps you were sent the supplemental questions because you had an unusual story or difficulties throughout HS… this particular question may not 100% relate to you, but you should still try your best to wow them :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone know how many days it usually takes before UCLA stops sending these questionnaires? People have been receiving them since the 30th of January and I’m under the impression that they’re done. However, I recall that some applicants at Berk Berk got it on the 6th while some person here got it on the 21st. Thanks.

So just to confirm, if you don’t get a questionnaire, it’s definitely not a negative sign, right?

Not at all. Majority will not get them.
