@livvrose98 Yeah I agree with you; there’s really no point in posting these Chance Me’s. I’m pretty sure we have all done our best on the application and regardless of GPA of test scores, just know that anything can happen. Look at the other UCLA Class threads-- people who thought they would get in got rejected and those who didn’t stand a chance got in. Anything can happen!
I agree with you!
Does anyone have an idea when Regents invitation emails will be sent out this year?
This might be something that anybody applying to UCLA this year may want to look at. It’s some pretty in depth admissions data from last year.

Wow… and those stats are most likely going to go up for this year…
@thegolfer1 Yeah you can look at admissions data from as far back as 1999. (I wish it was still like that. I would probably be getting in if it was.)

This was 2014 so you can see the jump from 2014 to 2015 and expect a similar jump from 2015 to 2016.

Ultimately what anybody can take from looking at the admissions data from over the years is that.
-UCLA values GPA a lot. You have a very good chance of being admitted if you have a 4.0 UW.
That’s nice to hear. I have a 4.6 uncapped and 4.0 UW. But I applied for electrical engineering so that’s tougher.
I have heard because of the size of UCLA’s application pool that they use almost exclusively GPA and SAT/ACT to make their decisions. While I’m sure this isn’t completely true, I was wondering if it is true to a certain extent. Could anybody confirm or deny this?
@GlennRobinsonIII GPA and test scores are definitely large factors. But essays are also very important. There is somebody on CC from last year who had a 3.2 UC GPA and an SAT above 2000 who got in because of a spectacular essay.
Miracles do happen, but UCLA is heavily GPA based.
Thanks a lot. Also @Ballerina016 does that mean that they don’t value test scores as much as GPA?
That is correct. Applicants with 4.00 UW GPA have about 60 % acceptance rate. Unfortunately test scores are valued not as much as UW GPA.
DD just received Alumni scholarship invite. Did they send it to everyone like UCB?
@Ballerina016 I got it too! I can’t really find any conclusive or reliable information. A thread from 2013 (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/1458538-ucla-alumni-scholarship-invitation-p1.html) said that around 4,000 get invited every year, but I can’t find anything directly from UCLA about it so who knows?
Is the Alumni Scholarship a posative thing? My stats aren’t that great for UCLA (3.8UW/4.33W Uncapped and a 33 act), but I do have a lot of leadership and volunteering experience. Could this be why, or does everyone get an invite to apply?
I didn’t get an invite… unless they send it in waves or something
I remember reading on some past CC thread (can’t remember which) that it’s actually an open application for anyone who applied to UCLA to apply, and that they only email and notify a select group, but still, that anyone UCLA applicant can apply nonetheless. Not 100% sure though
I looked on the website and yes anyone can apply for the alumni scholarship
Just got the email today. Applied before then though for the alumni scholarship.
