Reflection

Strengths: GPA, dedication in extracurriculars, classes reflect my major
Weaknesses: Test scores straight up. I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied with them knowing I had it in me to do a whole lot better.
Why you think you were accepted: They probably saw I was dedicated to comp sci in my essays. I explained a lot of why I loved math and comp sci in there. Otherwise, I don’t think it would’ve worked out quite as well for me.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Accepted at Georgia Tech, UT Austin, UMD

General Comments:
I actually can’t believe I got in. As an Asian male, things are already super tough to compete for spots in these top universities. My test scores were not nearly as high to be on the safe side, did not reflect my school performance, and that was my main concern. Add that on top of the fact that I’m an out of state student who needed to make his case much stronger than the in-state student, and it just gets tougher. And I was applying to the engineering school, in computer science, a super competitive major, so the odds were really stacked against me. Maybe I shouldn’t focus so much on the negatives of my application. I still can’t quite believe it. UCLA was among my top choices, and if I were to pick to go here, I know I wouldn’t regret it.
For anyone who didn’t quite get the results they wanted, don’t worry! You will find the place for you. Good luck to everyone!

@ivy2021 How much did the scholarship give you?

@cometbulldog 10,000 a year, you?

@giriboy I don’t know how to post a pic but at first it looks like a rejection letter but says :

Like many universities, UCLA uses a waitlist process to ensure that every available space has been offered to students interested in enrolling here. While we are not able to offer you admission at this time, we would like to extend to you an opportunity to join our waitlist. I understand this is not the news you were hoping for, but I hope you will consider opting in to our waitlist so that you might be considered for an opportunity to join us this fall, should space in our class become available. In the weeks following the May 1st commitment deadline, we will assess how many, if any, openings might be available for possible admission offers to students on our waitlist. Until that time, we will be unable to predict either the likelihood that we will go to our waitlist or the number of additional admission offers we might make.

If you are interested in the waitlist opportunity, you must opt-in by indicating your interest in the UCLA waitlist by April 15th at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Simply click the corresponding option below when you have made your decision.
