Does anyone know how to decline an offer of admission to Cal State LA? I can’t seem to figure it out please help me :((
I think you can just ignor it?
I read somewhere that sometimes the regents scholarship is not added into the estimated financial aid award right away. So have all regent scholarships been awarded already, or can some people still expect some notifications in the future?
Accepted for electrical engineering as an international student!
Can someone give me a link to the dates that UCLA is visiting various cities/states for admitted students? I know I saw it yesterday, but I can’t find it in an email or after a preliminary look at the ucla site. Thanks!
@firstwavemom it is where your decision letter is (where you logged on to find out if you were accepted) and under events for admits. If you scroll down it is below bruin day overnight.
@jcoc1093 Thank you, I finally found it. Unfortunately UCLA visiting 2 miles from our house and we will be away for Spring break.

In-state - CA. Bay Area
School Type: public
Ethnicity: Asian - Filipino
Gender: Female
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): immigrant, first gen college attendee, demonstrated interest, coming from a low socioeconomic community. I really played up that underrepresented women in STEM and coming from a generally low-yielding HS angle. worked with what I got hehe
Reflection
Strengths: extracurriculars, volunteering, …personality/writing (?) - I realized I was more ‘well rounded’ than extremely prodigal in one thing a little too late/had my hands full by then so I just spun that.
Weaknesses: Standardized testing scores - high in terms of my HS, but I understand its unsatisfactory on a natl/internationally competitive level.
Schools were you accepted to? UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UC Davis. Safeties: Cal Poly SLO, SJSU, Long Beach - all under Mechanical Engineering. (Intending to attempt to switch in bc I know I’d be roasted with my stats. Am aware it is hectic to do so though so pending)
Schools you were rejected from? none… yet… waiting for it…
Schools you are waiting for? UC Berkeley, Stanford - Unlikely getting in, so I’m completely pleased with UCLA. My first choice in terms of location/fit honestly. So psyched.
General Comments: I thought I had zero chance reading on this website everyone’s stats and internships, etc as well as the higher scores of few competitive bunch in my class. I knew a lot of it had to do with the resources around me, but honestly props to everyone here who relentlessly put themselves towards their academics and the whatever percentage you finessed the system. GO BRUINS! IDK HOW I GOT HERE BUT ALRIGHTY
I know someone who got into MIT and received Regents at Berkeley but got waitlisted at UCLA. A lot of my really qualified friends were also waitlisted. Is there any way a UCLA acceptance could be a bad sign?
^^No a UCLA acceptance is a good sign. Berkeley, MIT and Stanford consider each other rivals trying to appeal to the same student pop. UCLA may be a little more out of the box, and wants kids looking to make the world a better place. There is no way, any acceptance from UCLA means anything less than you’re considered top notch by a world class university. Enjoy it! UCLA gets the highest number of applicants each year. If you’ve gotten in, you are truly amazing.
Haha that’s the first time I’ve heard that^^^. A ucla acceptance is amazing! All of you should become Bruins. If you are visiting hold off until Bruin Day if possible. This week is also a bad time to tour because we have finals week so the campus is dead. Also the next week is spring break for us so come visit afterwards!

Teacher recs: mediocre. I got one really good one and another that was eh.

Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t get flat out rejected unlike other qualified people who goes to my school. I think my weighted GPA is 0.15 lower than than the average at UCLA. I’m not salty though since I didn’t expect myself to get in. Congrats to all those who got accepted!! :)>-
Got Regents! Accepted for CSE
@mafi4rmy (Sorry if someone answered your question already, I didn’t bother reading through all the pages)
To check for Regents / scholarships:
- After you log in to the portal, go to the “Your Next Steps” in the left sidebar
- Go to the Admitted Student Checklist
- Set up a UCLA logon ID, which is the first item on the list
- Log in to “View your financial aid / scholarships” to check scholarship info
@jxstingxray I think all Regents notifications come out at the same time - when portals are updated with decisions - so all awards should’ve been released already

Honestly, this is quite unreal for me and my family. Being an international student (from a low-income group), I had never expected acceptances from such great schools. The low acceptance rates and high SAT/ACT scores had filled me with dread but look where I am now!!
Btw, do you guys think I should attend UCLA (or possibly Berkeley) by taking substantial financial strain (or debt) or go to a significantly cheaper school like UMN Twin Cities or UW Seattle?

@SetuShah10 International and OOS students dont get financial aid, so youre looking at about $60,000 per year at UCLA. Even though UCLA is a great school, remember that its still an overcrowded public college. If you will have to take substantial financial strain just to attend UCLA, I would instead recommend looking at some of the cheaper (but still good quality) colleges like UW Seattle.
Decision: Accepted
Major: Political Science

Nothing, after getting accepted to UCLA I dont really care about the other schools tbh.
Note: to any juniors looking at ucla but being a mediocre student… u can still get in! Standardized tests and gpas are as important as ur extracurriculars and the passion you have for things other than your grades. Don’t be intimidated by what you read online bruh.
EC: Policy Debate State Champ, Mocktrial, Speech team, Fccla national qualifier, key and hope clubs
Congratulations to everyone who got accepted to UCLA! It’s truly an amazing accomplishment that all of you guys have achieved! I noticed that quite a few people were offered a Regents Scholarship to UCLA and just wanted to point some things out. Being someone who doesn’t have Regents and having a roommate who does, I can say first hand that being a Regents Scholar has SOOO many benefits besides the money. Of course the monetary reward is something, but the benefits that come with it are very helpful if you decide to attend. You get priority registration for classes (so crucial if you are engineering/science major), priority housing (sophomore year and up), and a bunch of extra benefits that I don’t really know about. Unfortunately, at UCLA, class registration especially for science majors can be a pain since so many people need to take the classes that clearly can’t hold that many students. Having priority registration at a public university definitely gives you a leg-up against all the competition at UCLA. Just to give you a perspective of how special priority registration is, the only other group that gets priority registration for classes are NCAA athletes. Please keep this information in mind when choosing where to SIR!
