@need2go2UCLA Go to UW Seattle if they offer you a lot better financial aid. There is not that much difference between UCLA and UW imo. If you got into top 5 colleges , I would tell you to go to the top 5 colleges instead though. We are CA resident, but I would not send my kid to UCLA or UC Berkeley at full pay if let’s say my kid was a VA resident and got into UVA or U Michigan or UW Seattle as a resident.
Accepted from San Diego!
ACCEPTED
Major:Pre-math/Applied Sciences
ACT:23
GPA:3.5
Out of State !!!
I’m as shocked as you are.
My stats are probably the bottom 1% lol
but hey I GOT IN!!!
@Marsh635 - which school is your top choice? My son is choosing between University of Michigan or UCLA. Tough choice since they are both good schools.
I was waitlisted at LA…kind of disappointed. 4.1 capped GPA/4.6 uncapped, 35 ACT, 17 APs, NMF, Nat’l. AP Scholar, pretty varied ECs, etc. etc. Do I have any chance at Berkeley? Sorry if I’ve asked this before; I’m just really worried
When you contact UCLA through the my admissions website do you receive the response through there or through your email?
@wormholes You definitely have a chance at Berkeley. But are you sure you want it? You have to apply to your major there after two years and it is harder to make A’s because you are graded in relation to your classmates.
@BunnyBlue what is the meaning of ur post?. Wormholes is just asking about getting into berkely… what major to do with it… pl explain…i too want to know… accepted into LS engg…
@USUG21 In the College of Letters & Science at Berkeley, you are not admitted to your major the way those in the Engineering School are. Instead, you take the prerequisite courses for your major, and then you apply to declare your major. Sometimes students don’t have the minimum GPA needed to get into their major.
@BunnyBlue That’s true, especially since I want to be premed. Would you say UC San Diego would be a better option for me? I got in for bio, so I wouldn’t have to do the whole applying to my major thing. Plus, it’s a little less cutthroat there than it is at Berkeley, right?
I am accepted, but I am still waiting for other schools results. Can I still go to the portal and make us and see the financial info? Someone said I can’t, if I do it means my decision is to decide ucla. Is it right?
Hi @BunnyBlue , does your son also prefer CS program at Cal? My son is accepted at UCLA (CS major) but what he really wants is Berkeley EECS.
@wormholes I wish I knew the answer for you. Maybe you could start a thread to ask people who are pre-med at Berkeley how it is and what the requirements are like now for pre-med majors.
No, I don’t think so. Unless you submit you SIR, otherwise, you are free to check financial information or what so ever. May 1st is the date you have to commit and submit your SIR
Hi @eric2017abc ! For some reason he won’t say whether he is really interested in Cal or not. He applied to CS in Letters & Science, and did not get the Regents invite. In fact, he got asked for LOR’s, so he is probably a borderline candidate and may not get in. I would not be unhappy if he got rejected because it would make the decision a little easier. As I guess you know, he was all set to go to UCSD until they accepted him undeclared. We know he is thinking about Irvine, Davis and UCLA.
@vavster19 materials engineering is by far the easiest engineering major to get accepted into at UCLA. Last year they accepted more than 1 in 5. Not saying you won’t make Cal, but keep that in mind.
Rejected pre cog sci, not even gonna bother posting my stats because they were exactly in range for me to get in. Something was obviously wrong with my essays, more of the story for future applicants don’t rely on good test scores #fucla
accepted L&S ( pre math/econ )
international
Asian Female
SAT 2300
SAT II 800, 800, 780
meh ECs , dece essays
Hey guys, I got waitlisted for Computer Science & Engineering at UCLA. I really want to go to Berkeley for CS in Letteres & Science. Is L&S at Berkeley easier to get in than UCLA’s CSE?
@BunnyBlue I saw your earlier posts. Your son’s stats is very strong. I don’t know how he can be considered as bounder line. Any way I think the likelihood for him to get into Berkeley CS is very high.
