Hello, I am new to College Confidential. I received both the regents invitation and the alumni scholarship emails. To be honest I have very mediocre stats but perhaps they saw character in my personal insight questions.
@lily_rose2017 Congrats on essentially getting in. Hope you chose to attend UCLA. Its truly an awesome place.
I received the alumni scholarship invitation as well. I read in a different thread that the scholarship means increased chances of acceptance. Is this true? Just for reference, I am oos (New York), 4.17 uc gpa (only 4 aps at my school), and 31 act.
@Jp6250 to my knowledge the correlation (note it’s correlation) between the alumni scholars invite and eventual acceptance is around 60%
@10s4life thanks for the info. Still super nervous but just have to wait until the decision’s released I guess
@10s4life you’re such a great addition to this thread. Thanks for helping everyone
Also any more insight on when decisions will be posted… just wondering because I am trying to plan a college visit before I’d findout from UCLA, because then I’d be able to make an immediate college decision (finally !! ) and not drag it out longer than I have to. Even mentioning when it has been in years past would be a great help!!
@nduclaunc I believe we will find out Mar. 18 this year. That’s what it said on the we
On the what?
@nduclaunc Last year march 18th. Typically the second to last Friday of march so whatever that is. And no problem glad to help
@Jp6250 haha don’t worry I was nervous too last year.
Make sure you all plan to attend Bruin Day should you get in. It will be on an early Saturday in April. I took a day off school to travel. I had SIRd prior to it but it’s worth going to. You’ll familiarize yourself with housing, dining, the campus plus campus life. Not to mention meeting tons of new people. If you are admitted to a professional school then the Sunday afterwards is admit day for you all so plan for the entire weekend in that case. Because last minute flights are expensive I would book flights now and you can always cancel should you not attend or get admitted.
@10s4life is there any way to get familiar with the housing and dining halls after bruin day? Unfortunately I will be out of the country the weekend it is offered. I have already visited the campus (and fallen in love, of course), so I’d like to see more if I am admitted
@10s4life haha i remember you from last year!! sup where do you go now?
@Jp6250 honestly google is your best friend. I didn’t go to bruin day last year but I watched a lot of youtube videos doing like housing tours and everything I think infinitely cindy or something on youtube has really good UCLA videos. Theres also a housing thread on this page i think will help you a lot in choosing meal plans/housing!!
I also remember receiving a email that was being speculated last year… with the thing that explicit says your name like Dear (first name), blah blah. Forgot what it was… I think some of my friends who didn’t get in didn’t get it… so it might say something Otherwise, don’t stress out too much guys! If its meant to be, it will happen
@vi0linmonster Haha I do remember you from last years thread as well. I go to UCLA now. Do you?
I am surprised I did not get an invite for the Regents. I read that they sent them automatically to the top 1.5% based solely on stats. I guess that is not the case.
Website
@ivywannabee it seems super ambiguous. I wouldn’t stress. You’re probably a top applicant even still.
Just submitted my alumni scholarship application because I thought it was due the 20th, but it turns out its not due until the 27th :)) . Oh well at least that’s one more thing to check off of the list
@Jp6250 Literally me, I thought so too but they extended the date. At least we got it done! :-bd
