UCLA Class of 2022 - Applicant Thread

@10s4life About when will the package arrive for International students?

@acaibowllover Not sure that’s independent from admissions.

@ToUSAfromINDIA They get mailed but i don’t work for the postal service so I couldn’t tell you how long it’ll take. I assume it takes the mailman a few weeks to swim across the ocean to India though :slight_smile:

@10s4life Ha. :slight_smile: Thanks. It is like a celebration at home when a university post comes. An email just doesn’t gather that much enthusiasm and joy.

someone ik was accepted w/ a 25 ACT, no EC’s other than basketball, and bad essays. admissions are wack lol

major was bio btw

@10s4life Thanks for being very helpful. I have a question. I got admitted to UCLA but my family didn’t submit FAFSA.
I see the message “Your Provisional Award Letter (PAL) is not available at this time” in the
Financial Aid page. I assumed I didn’t get Regents. Is that correct? I clicked on
Financial Aid and Scholarships > Awards and Notices and all I see is the message that Financial aid is
not available.

On my Provisional Award Letter (PAL), it does not mention Regents at all. However, I just received a phone call from my Regents mentor notifying me about my Regents Scholarship. I’m a little confused. Any thoughts?

@2022collegegrad Yeah you would already l know if you got regents. A lot of students expect it but the truth is Regents is very rare. It’s over represented on CC. There was a admit last year with a perfect sat and act and he got in but didn’t get Regents or any merit aid.

I got accepted for that same major!!!

sat; 1280

@10s4life Thanks!

Do I understand correctly, this year, unlike last, UCLA automatically selected Regents scholars? No additional essays required?

@10s4life , may I ask you a question? So my son got admitted (jumping from joy!), but he has this “unusual education path” where may not be able to get his high school diploma. The unusual path was: taking his first AP test at age 10, the next 5 AP tests at age 11 (all self-study homeschooled), being in Community College at age 11 and taking multivariable calculus and liner algebra, then doing to high school at age 12, doing humanities as high school and spending 50% of his time at a local University as a non-degree doing undergrad research and taking all bachelor math courses that University had (or so it seems); and now admitted to UCLA at age 15). He got admitted to UCLA out of 11th grade, and it is unknown yet whether his high school will let him graduate (he is missing the fourth high school history class). He already wrote to his admission counselor, but the counselor is out of office for the next few days. I know that the situation is unusual, but I am sure there is solution somewhere… He has his “UC test score” of 465 or 470, depending on what SAT sitting you count… How fast should this be resolved, should we wait till his admission counselor (responsible for our geographical region) is back from being absent?

@farmboy32

“REJECTED from UCSD (kind of odd…)”

What’s your intended major?
Personally, I don’t think this is odd at all.
You mentioned that piano was your only EC.
Perhaps UCSD does not value piano as much as other schools that accepted you.
In addition, I have heard plenty of applicants got into Stanford but were rejected by Berkeley and UCLA.

Does anyone have any updates on the UCLA Alumni scholarship?

@10s4life – Just checking… it’s okay to activate student access code and create an account, right? That doesn’t mean we are accepting offer I assume… thanks for your useful posts on this thread

@sdhotmama

I don’t know last year. This year, UCLA Regents works the same way as UCSB. No additional essay and no interview.

UCLA alumni scholarship asked two additional essays.

I know this is late but…
