@StevenToCollege Well, Berkeley and LA are miles ahead of UCSD, and I have already gotten into LA (will see about Berkeley soon). My intended major is Applied Mathematics.
Regardless of whether or not UCSD values piano as an EC, I know many people who had virtually no extracurricular activities at all, let alone lower numbers than me, and did get into UCSD. It’s quite evident that UCSD knew I would be attending and wanted to protect their yield rate.
@farmboy32 chill out bro you’re not that all that, appreciate that UCLA let you in and stop talking yourself up like you’re too good for UCSD. UCSD didn’t want you and that’s that.
Hi! In the admission contract it says to notify UCLA if you have a C in a class… is it talking about semester grades or quarter grades? My school grades quarterly but only semester grades go on our final transcript.
@YaBoyAndre I couldn’t care less that UCSD didn’t want me–it’s actually kind of laughable. I wouldn’t pick UCSD over Stanford in a blue moon, and I can’t think of anyone that would either.
I’m not “talking myself up,” but if people with lower grades, lower scores, and less EC’s got into UCSD, it’s unlikely that they wouldn’t take me due to sheer lack of qualification.
Sorry to ask if this has already been answered, but when typically do acceptance packages come in the mail? There’s nothing quite like seeing all your hard work pay off in a physical document you can hold
@10s4life not sure if this has been asked already, but do you have any advice for a waitlisted engineering applicant? For the 7000 character waitlist statement what else should I include other than first semester senior grades?
Hi, international student accepted for econ
ACT-34
APs macro-5, micro-5
Good essasys and ecs
I was wondering if it will be tough to switch to Business Econ?
@10s4life hi! i was wondering if UCLA would let me major in business economics (i applied & was admitted under reg econ) and then let me major in either spanish or global studies as well? Is it common to double major at UCLA?
@10s4life Hi! So UCLA is one of my top schools and I’m so excited that I got in! However, my financial aid package is not so great. I understand that for out of states student UCs don’t give a lot of aid. However, my EFC was about $2K but I’m expected to pay about $38K for UCLA. My parents don’t even make that much money… Do you think it’s possible that if I were to make my case as a committed low income student that UCLA will take another look at my aid and give my family something better to work with? Because I would truly love to go to UCLA but I don’t want to make my parent take out $30k in loans…
@ElGuiri First of all, congratulations. But to answer your question, no. Regents is given purely off of a review of your UC app. You were probably thinking about the Alumni scholarship which is a separate scholarship.
@novahhhh No because the out of state supplemental is mandated for oos students. Unfortunately appealing won’t increase aid in your case since they already know your income. Personally taking out that much debt is not worth it to attend Ucla. The efc doesn’t matter as Ucla does not meet full need.
@ViolaMom12 Sorry for the late response there’s so many posts and I’m busy with finals but to answer your question yeah that’s fine. You don’t commit until you pay your deposit. But we hope your child chooses to become a Bruin!
@ElenaParent Wow your son must be very bright. He’s a unique situation as enrollment management denotes those students as gifted non traditional. What I would do I first get in contact with the school guidance counselor. If you are in Ca you can look at early graduation options. The California high school exit exam has been discontinued which is a bummer. After you talk to the counselor you should call Ucla undergrad admissions. They are open Monday-Thursday next week closed Friday for Caesar Chavez day. Explain your situation. It should be fine as we have had “early” admits before. Best of luck to your son and feel free to contact me if you have any other concerns or questions.
@usctrojanz Regents offers a 2k base award regadless of need. If you have more need Regents is increased until the demonstrated need is met. If your financial aid is greater than tuition it is refunded to you and you can choose whether to apply it to housing or use it to go on vacation. Ucla tuition and fees is paid for separately than housing and financial aid is only directly applied to tuition. Fight on!
