I don’t think it’s purely due to stats, I have a 35 act and 4.38 UC W gpa, and my friend has the same act score and an even higher gpa and neither of us got the email
Got the alumni email. I know it might have already been posted, but can someone refresh me on what it means? Does it mean anything good regarding my UCLA admissions chances?
@Pastpower It’s not anything bad It’s definitely a good sign. (According to past posts, possibly top 20%, possibly 60% chance of admission)
i got the email (surprisingly…) but i don’t want to get my hopes up too much after not getting into UCI early ://
SAT: 1360/1600
ACT: 26
UW GPA: 4.88
Uncapped GPA: 4.49
UC Capped GPA: 4.32
DD got the alumni email, but it was in her promotion folder (gmail). It looks like a promotional email, may not mean anything.
Didn’t get the email, 36 ACT, 1550 SAT, 3.95 UW GPA. Guess I really screwed up the rest of the application.
I didn’t get the email
Check your spam folder–that’s where my son’s ended up.
Checked my spam already. Could it be that I already started the scholarship application? I know the scholarship application and admissions are separated to a degree but I did already register my UC applicant number with the scholarship application.
If you don’t get the email, does that mean you probably won’t get into UCLA at all?
@18college1111 I received the email today and I had already started the application/made my alumni scholarship account
@ugradbiz well I’m glad for you but that’s definitely bad news for me haha. ugh
@pleasgod If I did the math correctly, assuming that top 20% get the invite and 60% of them get accepted, and there’s a 18% overall acceptance rate, there is a 7.5% chance of getting in if you didn’t get the email. Someone might want to double check my math because I’m depressed by my own answer.
Are international students eligible for the alumni scholarship? Perhaps this is why I did not receive the email?
@18college1111 the math i did actually came up with 3% but either way we have a very small chance & now i am sad i mean i also didn’t really expect to get it because my school is really competitive and my gpa isn’t incredible compared to everyone else. But at least 3% is better than 0% so there’s still some hope? stay strong my friends
No email- 35 ACT, 4.31 UC capped GPA, 4.6 Uncapped GPA, tons of extracurriculars. I come from an insanely competitive high school though
For those who didn’t receive the email, don’t worry. I’ve seen several applicants on previous years’ threads who received the alumni scholarship email but were not admitted. Similarly there are several applicants who did not receive the email who were indeed accepted with lower stats as well so not receiving the email does not equate to a rejection.
@18college1111 , that could be the case! My DS also registered with alumni scholarship application by accident a few weeks ago. Maybe they check the list and remove those that already applying?
If I already started a scholarship application should I have still received an email? Like would they send it regardless of if I had started?
I started the application a while ago but I received the email, for those who are asking.
