@grundeis I think it was always the referencing and 5k were invited. She’s not on the admissions so I didn’t ask anything about regents, I heard that regents were coming out with admissions this year because they are so far behind so no one will get any notifications until March 16
where did you hear abt Regents coming out later on (on the admission day!!!) this year?
And also did that lady say that they are “very very far behind” or you just heard that somewhere else too?
Thanks btw!
@grundeis An admissions officer said that regents would be coming out either on admission day or later March. Admissions said they still have applications to go through
Sorry for asking, but where did an admission officer say that?
You called them? You met him? Somewhere on CC?
Cuz if that is true than everyone who is waiting for it everyday is just plain wrong!!!
@grundeis - Everyone is basing their ‘opinions’ on past history. With the explosion of applications to UCLA over the past couple of years I think it’s safe to say that history may not repeat itself.
@grundeis I called them also earlier
So this info is 100% that no Regents is coming out until decision day?
@grundeis yes
@Mordowin That’s weird. If they’re still evaluating applications, then how did they make all the decisions for the supplemental questionnaire candidates (like me). Not that I’m complaining, but it seems odd that they would give certain students a second chance without first looking over all of the other applications. Anyone care to weigh in?
Hi! So last week I received an email about the Alumni Scholarship program and I didnt think much of it. I obviously applied right away but I did not think it was something they sent out to only select individuals. Could someone clarify this for me please? Thanks!
An old thread, but likely the source of some of the information that I’ve seen over the years. I would guess the process is different now, but does suggest there is a screening process versus a blanket email sent to all.
Just doesn’t make sense to me. If the alumni scholarships are truly random, why would they send them to only about 5k people? Why not send them to everyone?
From the thread I linked above.
@Pastpower it’s not random, they said they picked the most qualified applicants based on their ECs and essays
@stevensonjj0 honestly I couldn’t say anything about that, all they told me was that they are still looking over applications so I guess we just need to wait and see.
Does anyone know the release date for UCLA and the other UC’s?
@Interested1945 UCLA has traditionally been the third Friday in March. UCSB is the following week during the weekday. Cal is the fourth week in March Friday. UC davis and UCSD both go second Friday in March. Of course things can change
@10s4life Do you have any information on the Alumni Scholarship email? Is it only sent to a few thousand applicants who are chosen or is it random? There is information in a post from earlier today but that information comes from 2013.
@smitchell Unfortunately this year seems to have proven me wrong. I don’t have any additional information for that. It’s not something that is discussed or asked too much in admissions. It used to be selected and it seems to still be however the methodology of that selection is gray
Do you have any update on Regents??
