@collegehope22 please read through the thread as that has already been answered
@collegehope22 – so you don’t have to read the whole 42 pages, some people claim that they were told that Regents will not come out until the decisions but NO ONE really has any idea if that is accurate or what will happen
Hey everyone! I am a US citizen living in Europe - I am completing high school here. Could anyone let me know if I am considered OOS or International?
@chrys1 Heyo! I’m almost in the exact same situation except I graduated early and am just in Europe for a gap year. You’re considered wherever you submitted as your permanent residence (if your parents still have the property in the states and you haven’t been abroad for over 2 years, technically your residence should be in the US). If you registered as permanently residing overseas, you are an international applicant. If you registered as permanent residence in the US just OOS, and mailing address overseas, you are considered as an OOS applicant, and if you registered permanent residence in CA and mailing address anywhere else, you are still an in state applicant. Hope I helped!
Thanks everyone for posting on the Alum scholarship. I asked my son about it last night and he told me he got the email but thought it was just a mass email and filed it away. He applied after reading it carefully.
@SCMHAALUM For our informal survey - mind sharing stats?
GPA 3.9UW/4.67UCW; SAT 1540; dancer/music/soccer/community services
I have been following this thread, since DS also received the Alumni Scholarship email, which surprised me somewhat since he didn’t receive anything from UCSB which a lot of people got. However, then reading a few posts back that it was based on ec’s and essays, explained it to me. And when I read #scmhaalum post above, I felt I had to comment, since very similar to my DS.
DS stats: 3.98 UW, 5.27 W GPA, 1530 SAT and a ballet dancer/debater
@Totoros Since there are insane number of applicants, I wonder if the list of invites is automatically generated with stats and key words match. My son is a good case of ADD, engaged in so many things he had to ask me what his ECs were when applying lol
@Scmhaalum Could very well be the case. Liked that comment about your son, lol! My son is in the end not even applying for the scholarship, he just cannot face anymore essays.
@Totoros Yeah this one is tough - 2 essays 500 words each. My son is into photography and needs money for his equipment. I give him incentives to apply for scholarships
@jkrxqzl Thank you for your response! I looked at the site of UC Admissions under International students and it says that “So, who do we consider to be international? You are an international student if you are not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident.” So, does this means that as a US citizen living in Europe that I am considered OOS?
OOS if you haven’t paid state income tax for the last year or 2. That’s how it was for Texas at least.
@chrys1 Based on the info you provided you are considered oos.
2 weeks left??
@BrKmNk Well it’s prob the 23rd because this Friday doesn’t really count since it’s part of the February week.
@10s4life - Booo! We want answers for our crumb crunchers NOW! LOL. I’m ready for March to be over and it just started. Ugh
@stevensonjj0 I’m sure it’s because of initial reads and subsequential reads that certain applications pass through…like the reread once supplements are submitted is what they mean by still reviewing applications. My son got the supplemental request too…did you mention a disability/hardship ?
No, did your son mention any hardship? That was the main reason I was so confused at first. I didn’t note any particular difficulties that might have hindered my success. Nor did I mention any great talent or academic achievement. Don’t know if that hurts or helps my app.
Just read that they are reviewing alumni scholarship applications from 3/16 to 3/18, so I’d assume that admission decisions will be coming the 16th.
