Hi guys! I was just wondering if anyone has received the regent scholar email/augmented review email/email inviting the top 20% of applicants to apply for alumni scholarships yet? Any responses would be helpful to calm my anxiety lol! thanks.
My S18 hasn’t seen anything yet. How about others?
@sandiegodad2017 One reason USC has so many posts is that some people will receive letters for merit aid/acceptance next week.
@vhsdad any idea if we will go through a similar process next week for UCB/UCLA? I didn’t apply to USC so that doesnt really mean anything to me
@BrKmNk UCLA does not do early acceptance as a Ucla regents technically isn’t an acceptance yet. Cal will give early acceptance for regents scholars.
hate this wait process @10s4life
According to last year’s UCLA Applicant Thread, the alumni scholarship invitation was sent out Feb 2nd, and the Regent’s on Feb 4th… So those are the approximate dates some of us will be hearing about these emails.
Has anyone found out when they will release decisions?
Last year: 2/2-2/4 scholarship invites (yet didn’t mean acceptance!) and the decisions came out on 3/17
FYI to int. applicants: I have an int. friend who applied and never received the scholarship mails and was eventually admitted. No need to worry… for now at least
@BrKmNk Most applicants will not get any kind of emails. Don’t worry if you don’t get them!
From some of the posts I’ve read the Regents emails were sent the last Friday or Monday of January.
Does anyone know if the entire allotment of Regents invitations are sent in the late Jan, early Feb window, before the acceptances in March? So, if no early notification is there still is a chance for Regents later when acceptances are given???
@sandiegodad2017 Regents finalists are only notified in this time fram before March. Finalists are then notified if they are regents scholars upon acceptance. Tbh regents is pretty overrated, it’s nice to get but not the end of the world.
@10s4life personally speaking, the regents/alumni scholarship situation is the only thing we applicants can hope/look forward to for now till the results. Its in a way the only meaningful contact we get from the admissions office.
@sandiegodad2017 To help out a fellow San Diegan, I’ll share a little general Regents info from last year. Our child chose UCLA (no Regents) over 3 other UCs with Regents. We have another kid at a UC that has Regents and the money, priority scheduling, and priortity housing are all great benefits. Davis has the most significant Regents money followed by UCSB. Irvine notified Regents around Feb 15 last year. UCSB in the first few days of March. Davis and San Diego were notified the same day that admissions came out on March 10. The Regents money at most of the UCs is probably not enough to sway you away from UCLA, with the exception of Davis and UCSB which are more significant (at least $7500/yr at Davis and $6k/year at UCSB). The priority scheduling and housing can be big stress relievers, although not all will care about the housing aspect. There is a bit of stress added with the Regents because you have to maintain a certain GPA (varies by school) to keep the scholarship. Since you’re from SD, thought you might be like a lot here that apply to many of the UCs and that some general Regents info/timeline might help.
So quite around here. Is anyone eager to here about Regents soon?
*quiet
I received a supplemental request for more information about me. did anyone else get this?
@CollegeGal223 Be sure to tell them USC is your top choice!!
